Nelson is a swing and a miss? Are you inferring Flood should have kept him on the team or let him back on? Brilliant!

Jamauri Bogan? 5'7" and 165. Yeah, that would have been a solid recruit as a pro-style QB. That's the same class where we had Wiegers, but he decommitted because of the Julie nonsense and faux abuse scandal (among other reasons), and we were left scrambling to find a new QB, and took Gio. We should have pursued Bogan over Wiegers? Brilliant!!

Hindsight is 20/20, but here it is not even that.

Nelson was not a swing and miss literally or figuratively.
If Nelson didnt beat that guy...sigh..
btw.. Laviano has the lowest QB rating in the entire B10..LAST.
and as far as overall recruiting: Bogan..yes Flood ignored NJ talent at Union and Elizabeth high school..Bogan just ran all over fellow B10 school Illini Saturday.. guess he could play at B10 level.there ex Coach Flood.! and You,knight shift,, are confused Bogan is a Running back..not QB.[eyeroll]

Let's pump the breaks here. Bogan fits in very well in the MAC. A kid his size would possibly get killed in our league. Oh and Nelson? The guy who stomped out someone's face at a bar? We're not Louisville you fool.

Mr. Walker from Temple would have looked good at QB as well.
That was another one ,along with Thomas both wanted RU as a package, but Flood told Walker he wouldnt be a QB at Rutgers...wth..! #ElmerFlood

and before you start name calling 'fool' (SKOOLIE)I said what could have been IF Nelson didnt punch/kick the guy..nowhere did I say he should have stayed on the team.. FYI:Bogan had 100 yards plus game this season vrs Northwestern and Illini..what conference do they both play in?
Yes,we are not Louisville.. but is that good or bad?

My bad. Even more brilliant! Hicks and Martin were in the 2014 class. Which one should we have tossed for Bogan?

Good news on QB ranking--Iowa's and Illini's QB ratings are right down there with Laviano!!! And Perry Hills is nothing to write home about either.

Last year, Laviano's QBR was right there with Hackenberg--draft material!!!!!

Most ignorant thread I've seen started in a while. What exactly is the point of this?

Nelson is not an ex-RU player, drop it. He's the ex-Minnesota QB.

Our fan base used to be above this.

Just more Flood bashing I'd guess. Didn't he do enough real stuff to rip him for? No coach can control what happens when these guys are home.

I think it was reasonable for Nelson to get a second chance... at ECU. No way Rutgers should have kept him. It was better for Rutgers and better for Nelson that his actions had *some* kind of effect on his life and football career. I will grant him the heat of the moment thing.. when hit to the ground from behind.. really cannot stand a kick to the head... so cowardly... but given he didn't swing first and was hit from behind.. I cna understand a moment of blind rage.

bogan against 2 big ten teams this year. 22 car 103 1 td and 24 car 189 2 td

That's great and all but Knight Shift's point still stands: would you have ditched Martin or Hicks for him in the 2014 class?

As far as Nelson goes, we were in no position to keep him on the team after the assault charges so pining over his stats at ECU seems pointless to me.

I know this. He's not playing 9 B1G defenses a year is my point and who would he steal carries from here?

Unless Walker couldn't qualify that is the big miss here. Then again if he came here and played well Kyle Flood could still be the coach. I think RU is better off.

again, the point was IF he didnt beat the guy and stayed at RU,Nelson had talent.as a QB as evident as being fifth in nation for passing yardage, and he allready beat NC state this year.

If my aunt had balls she'd be my uncle. He did beat that guy and as a result, he didn't stay at RU. The title of this thread is "Rutgers swings and Misses", implying to me we did something wrong (although maybe you only intended that with respect to not recruiting Bogan).

I'm really starting to like you - I couldnt have said it any better

I'd still prefer Hicks and/or Martin over Bogan, particularly over the course of a full B1G schedule. Nelson took the option out of RUs hands. No way could (or should) he stay after the incident.
