PISCATAWAY, N.J. (Dec. 20, 2018) - Rutgers Athletics announced today that the men's basketball game versus No. 24 Maryland on Saturday, Jan. 5, at 2 p.m. is sold out to the general public. It marks the second sell-out of the season for RU after a capacity crowd watched the Scarlet Knights battle No. 8/9 Michigan State on Nov. 30.

The sell-outs versus the Spartans and Terrapins signal the first time in 20 years that Rutgers has experienced multiple home sell-outs this early in its calendar schedule. During the 1998-99 campaign, the Scarlet Knights enjoyed capacity crowds at the RAC versus Temple on Dec. 19 and against No. 12 St. John’s on Jan. 2.

Rutgers students can still acquire tickets for the Maryland game and all remaining home contests by clicking here. Tickets are going fast, so students are strongly encouraged to enter their claim in order to guarantee a seat. During games over winter break, including the contest against the Terrapins, students with a valid Rutgers ID can bring guests in the student section via the "Winter Break at the RAC" promotion. Guest tickets can be claimed through the normal student claim process.

Fans still looking for tickets to the Jan. 5 Big Ten battle are encouraged to visit StubHub, the official fan-to-fan ticket market place of the Scarlet Knights.

Rutgers has experienced ticket growth each season under the leadership of head coach Steve Pikiell. Season ticket sales have increased 7% over 2017-18 and average attendance through six games has improved 65% from last year.

The sell-out versus Michigan State earlier this season marked the first November sell-out at the RAC for men’s basketball in 21 years, since Rutgers hosted Princeton before 8,524 fans on Nov. 22, 1997.

The Scarlet Knights next host Columbia this Saturday (Dec. 22) in a 1 p.m. tip-off. The match-up will be streamed live on BTN Plus with Ralph Bednarczyk and Danny Breslauer on the call.
