Rutgers Women's Basketball vs. Minnesota

Beyond dead. The sad part is most on this board are more than okay with it as they to great lengths to justify this nonsense. It's a complete joke at this point.

no one likes this board dead, but some whiners made it hard to enjoy by trying to make the program look like a loser when it just wasn't as good as was before.
Those type of people made discussing the RU WBB program hard to do when threads were consonantly hijacked by those who want CVS gone supplying misinformation along with some facts in an effort to make the program look like a loser

If this board just tried to discuss the issues facing RU WBB with good and bad being discuseed honestly without personal agendas puting in statements making the program look like a loseing one and refusing to admit it won 20 games just about every year, then maybe more people would be here posting rather that give up fighting the hater's constant whining .

As for active, for many years this board had a lot of traffic after loses because those whiners came to bash and posted a lot after a loss.
Let the team win and those whiners wouldn't come by even to congratulate the team.
After a loss, you couldn't keep them away if you tried.
So with people like that hurting discussions, some posters felt it wasn't worth talking RU WBB here.

The program is a shell of what it used to be. We can debate how we got here and who's to blame but at the end of the day there's little to no excitement or juice for the fanbase to sustain interest or grow. Yes, the record shows plenty of wins but during the most important point of the season we fall flat on our faces. It's maddening and beyond frustrating at this point. The vast majority of the fanbase love CViv but change would be refreshing. There's plenty of talent out there that could get us to a Sweet 16 on a regular basis.

Wow.. not a peep here about a completed game as the losses continue to pile up. This is a dead program.

I’m old enough to remember when this board was reasonably active.
First of all, I thought you were being facetious with this post. You posted it last night. There was a whole thread on the game that has a couple of pages of posts. I thought someone would direct you to that thread. I thought maybe you didn't equate the "Minny" for Minnesota or you just plain didn't see that there was an active thread for the game.

Trooper, I don't see anyone on here who is okay with what is going on this year. I see everyone who's posted this season, including myself, is in line with your second post above in this thread. Don't know what you are basing your first post in this thread on. That's not in touch with what has been posted on here since the start of the season.

agree change is needed since Tim is not doing anything close to a good job and though CVS is not part of coaching this years mess, the way the coaching change went is on her doorstep.

As for shell of what it used to be, this year under Tim true and maybe worse.
But under CVS it was ( in recent years) a fairly good program that made the Tourney most of the time, but not the type of program she had in the past that was a constant threat for the Big East title and always was looked at as the type that could make the final 4( every year)
So the program did go down from what it looked like during its glory days and that's what has turned many a fan off. Especially because advancing past the first round is a problem , along with not making it top the conference championship game or quarter finals .
Seems like winning the second round there is a chore nowadays.

But for the most part Rutgers was a winner most seasons, just didn't win enough to be ranked in the Top 25 and many feel that;s inexcusable while I can't defend against those made a bout that fact, I can and will defend the program against all who try to misinform in their messages on here that the RU WBB program is a loser, because it's not.
Ir's just not the type of winner it once was and that needs to change back to the way it was.

My only this season is a change of interim HC ,VERY SOON and Vivian announcing her retirement from coaching, moving to administration and becoming HC Emeritus

I've said it before, it isn't a complete summary, of course, but Rutgers lost the ability to pull upsets at some point.

There was, for many years, virtually no game that Rutgers didn't have a chance to win. Some UConn games, some years. Otherwise . . . How many games since Rutgers defeated someone that they were clearly not expected to? I remember very few for quite a few years.

Rutgers did as well as they did over recent years because they were a good team and took care of business. They rarely dropped games against clearly weaker teams, and sometimes played some good teams tough. But upsets?

Over the last four years, not including this season, we have been teased. The most frustrating thing is witnessing the team play to a very high level in the middle and end of the regular season just to self implode at tourney time. Over the last four years, the team was predicted to be in the bottom half of the Big Ten Conf. Each year. We end up with upsets, four years ago against Md at Md. with CC Cryor leading the charge. Couldn't get past Iowa with Gustafson that year. Close but no cigar. We've beaten Ohio State, I want to say numerous times in the last four years, Northwestern, and Michigan quite handily(last year I believe) at the RAC. All would be considered upsets because these opponents were ranked at the time. That is how we have forced our way into the Top 25 every year over the last four years at some point midway though each season. We usually climb as high as the upper teens in ranking until we fall apart at Tourney time and end up falling out of the Top 25.

We didn;t play too many Top 5 teams the last 4 years to get upsets at that level.
