Monday and Tuesday boy don't they go to school LOL
Good luck to the women it is always very windy down there at this time of year and all the courses have a lot of water which for us normal golfers turns bogies up here into double and triple bogies

The Men do the same next week. It's either that or come in by Thu morning for a practice round and play Fri-Sun.

Later on in the season when there's longer daylight they'll play some Day 1 36/Day 2 18.

Lad by Senior golfers Rikke Nordvik (3 Under 69) and Leigha Devine (2 Under 70), Rutgers was 4th after the 1st Round. Individually Nordvik was 3rd and Devine T4th. Junior Lucrezia Rossettin shot 73 followed by her sister, Frosh Lorena and Grad Transfer Cathi Graf with 77's. Playing as Individuals, and Frosh Krystal Li shot 75 and Frosh Emily James an 81. The field is bunched pretty tight both team and individually.

A very nice start, hopefully it continues.

On the Individual side RU's Leigha Devine shot her 2nd under par round, a 3 Under 69. At -5 after 36 holes, she has put herself in a 3-way tie for First. So, things didn't go well for RU as the team went from shooting the 4th and 3rd best rounds to shooting the 4th worst today. It was also the 4th worst score by a team in the entire tourney. Don't know why that seems to happen to RU that there's that 1 bad round, but it does. Fortunately the scores overall were higher than Rounds 1 and 2 so RU only fell 1 spot to 4th Place. The bad is they had the chance to show they could beat B1G and much higher ranked teams but were passed by #21 Vanderbilt, and caught and tied by #69 Indiana and #75 Wisconsin. On the positive side, RU played very well for 2 rounds. They went into this event as the 11th ranked team in the field so it can be said they overperformed.

Leigha Devine, who was tied for 1st going into today, shot a 78 dropping her to T12. Lucrezia Rossettin also shot 78, dropping from T6 to T23. Rikke Nordvik shot a 75, dropping from T12 to T16. Cathi Graf shot an Even Par 72, improving her position by a lot to T35. Lorena Rossettin was the 3rd 78, finishing T53. Playing as individuals, Krystal Li shot 81 and finished T60 while Emily James shot 77 and finished T69.

Final Standings Top Half

1. #33 USF.....................-7
2. #53 Denver..............-3
3. #21 Vanderbilt........-1
T4. #113 Rutgers.........+12
T4. #69 Indiana.........+12
T4. #75 Wisconsin......+12
7. #73 Notre Dame.....+16

The final B1G member, #92 Iowa, finished T8 with a score of +21

One final note.

By finishing T4, Rutgers moved up 13 spots to #100 out of 276 Womens Teams playing D1 this Spring. They also escaped the B1G cellar, passing #101 PSU.

What ranking are the men's team at this point? I wonder why they aren't competing in the B1G Match Series in Florida this year.

Doesn't appear the B1G Match Play is on the schedule at all. 1 Year hiatus or permantly? No idea but interesting because this is the 1st year Match Play events count in the rankings. When there was a Match Play, not every team played every year. In '20 there were 13, 12 in '21, 11 in '22, and 9 last year.

Men are #76 as of yesterday, a drop of 1 place from the initial Spring Rankings last Wednesday. They play for the 1st time Sun-Tue In Puerto Rico against a larger than usual field. If everyone who either had it on their schedule/or has confirmed plays we're talking at least 16 teams with 80 golfers minimum. The field will be led by #8 Arkansas, #40 UNCG, and #68 Michigan. Rutgers is 4th Highest in the field. There will be a local flavor with UConn, BC, Temple, Bucknell, and Drexel entered.

Hope the men handle business and can at least get into the 60s. They've been the top program in the Northeast for a few years now so I expect them to beat UConn, Temple, BC, Drexel, Bucknell.

As far as I know, for the past couple years RU has been the top team in the NE EXCEPT for maybe a week or two this past Fall when it was Drexel. Now that the rankings have finally been completed thru today, RU has retaken the top spot. RU is 3 spots ahead of #79 Drexel, who has had a decent program, and 22 ahead of #98 Princeton.

Drexel won all 4 tourneys they played in this past Fall. The reason they aren't ranked higher is the fields they faced were very weak. The tourney "weighted" average for those events was 3 whereas RU's tourneys were a 6. RU received more ranking points for finishing 7th out at Minnesota's Gopher Invitational in September than Drexel did winning any of their events. Still...............

I don't know what's going on but the Men's Team may not be playing this weekend. The Palmas Del Mar Collegiate is still listed on the Rutgers Athletics schedule and Spikemark as of today but neither Golfstat nor the U of Arkansas site shows Rutgers.

Strange. If not, I hope they were able to find a replacement tourney.

Update: RU was added to the event this morning by Golfstat as one of 16 teams so I guess they're good to go.
