Rutgers Women's Soccer In 2017 NCAA Tournament

Bracket

I'm assuming that La Salle is at RU then WVU is away. Playing the #2 seed in the second round makes us 7th seed right? Sounds very low considering an RPI of 12 (last updated 10/29) and top 25 in both polls.

If we advance then the next game could be #3 seed PSU. I would love another shot at them. BTW, they won the B1g tournament.

RU, and Casey especially, will be very hungry!
Go RU, beat La Salle!

WOW we got screwed!

What's new. We will continue to re: seeding, refs, etc, until we raise holy hell about it. That includes with the BIG.

Brutal. Even if they went with our coach's ranking - 23 - we still should have gotten a better seeding. Complete bullshit especially with the win against OSU late/tie vs PSU and a fairly strong finish. Even OSU (17th RPI) got a 4-seed!

Not quite as negative as some of you.
Really getting screwed would have been in the draw with Stanford and Florida St.

These are names to us but the reality is we had similar records and these teams are hardly unbeatable. we have no one blame but ourselves. . We beat Iowa maybe we are a 4th seed. we didnt.

Bottom line, to me, if Kenie Wright, after Casey our most important player, is ok we compete here and can win. No kenie--no offense tough situations

Is Rutgers represented in any way on Big Ten or NCAA selection or policy-making committees? We always get hosed. Are there any game officials (referees) that hail from NJ? According to posters on the football board, the refs stick it to us every single game.

We had the Iowa game taken away from us. No Kenie Wright would not be the best scenario for sure.

I beg to differ. OSU - whom we beat head-to-head in the 2 weeks leading up to selection day, finished with an RPI of 17 and got a 4-seed. We finish #11 and get a 7-seed.

I'd like to see you justify that my friend.

One thing we need to do a better job of, and I have no idea if this pertains to the women's soccer committee specifically or not, but we need to get our people much more active on NCAA committees of all kinds. I rarely or never hear of any Rutgers representation.

We have zero on the NCAA MLAX committee, which could/would have certainly helped the last 2 years. Sports is all about what you do on the field. But that changes when a bunch of people sit in a boardroom making decisions about those results themselves.

Scoreboard never lies, but people do.

We actually were #12 RPI. Penn State was # 11. They received a 3 seed & us a 7. And to beat a dead horse again, we had the better of the play in the regular season game at Yurcak & were absolutely robbed. In both instances PSU committed flagrant & obvious fouls in their box & neither was called. Colby was mauled to the ground in one. In the second, the PS player stuck her hand out & stopped a shot headed toward the goal--so clear & in plain view that the crowd erupted & for a long time. Ref couldn't have missed it. Just didn't call it. Can't tell me that our best penalty striker wouldn't have converted 1 or 2 of those penalty kicks. We win. If this had happened in football, the football boys heads would still be exploding. Hobbs has got to end this type of s#it.

Yeah that would be in spite of the rpi's.. Ohio State won the actual regular season big ten title which is not factored into rpi. Would it have been more fair if we took that 4 spot after finishing 5th?

Question though ... Does the angry emoticon denote hostility towards me by you?

lol no not at all!

My point is THAT if OSU got a 4 we got ROBBED with a 7. Nothing can convince me otherwise.Again we are #12 in the RPI and, even if they updated following the conference tourneys, at worse MAYBE 15?

i dont suppose i can convince you we are not being screwed but i will try
Wisconsin
Northwestern
are in precisely the same spot as us

Minnesota got screwed as they did not make the draw as best i can see
Its not all rpi
Penn st wonthe big 10 tournament
ohio st won the regular season those fetch votes

I think on our best day
we can beat West Virginia and either Pennst/ or georgetown

In draw one i dont think we can run with Stanford or Florida st. we are not better off there. should we leap frog both of those rpi wise
in draw two Duke and Texas are very good also
Draw 3 is the Ohio st seed and we would face Wisconsin, and number one South Carolina. We probably do not escape that second match
The Ucla virginia bracket is brutal also we cannot run with UCLA

Your hopes lie with number 6 where they seeded Princeton. we could escape this bracket
t and the other end in North Carolina
the last UCF and Florida i have no opinion

So of the 8 brackets the two best shots, to me, are where we are or the Princeton/ no carolina bracket
i may be certifyable but i think it fair and the slot gives us our best shot of success

So i clearly understand you dont see it that way but to me our draw is a godsend.

I'm not sure that I don't agree with you that it may have worked out not too badly for us.

Don't be surprised in Georgetown makes a run that includes beating Penn State.

At the end of the day you have to put the ball on the back of the net and we can't do it

I never said our "draw" was bad in respect to where we could have landed, otherwise, as a 7-seed. My argument - AND IT STANDS - is that our RPI is MUCH BETTER than OSU's, and we BEAT THEM HEAD-TO-HEAD, recently, yet they got a MUCH BETTER seeding than we did and that's 100% complete bullshit. Our SEED should have been better than it is (even if not as high a theirs). We simply shouldn't have to play a 2-seed in the 2nd round. PERIOD.
Get it now lol? Am I still not making sense LOL??? [cheers][cheers]

P.S. - Minnesota was 49th in the RPI, so I'd hardly say that they got "screwed" when you take into account the auto-bids. Borderline.

At the end of the day you have to put the ball on the back of the net and we can't do it
Should be noted that 21 of our 28 roster are either freshmen or sophomores--about evenly split. Of the 6 strikers who saw significant time 1 is an upperclassman, 3 are freshmen & 2 are sophomores. All of our attacking mids are either freshmen or sophomores. The upperclassmen that we have play primarily on the defensive side. Keeper a senior, 2 center backs are sophomores, 1 outside back a senior 1 a junior. Our holding mid a junior. Our primary sub & sometimes starter at holding mid a senior. On top of that we put a decent number in the back of the net.

Rutgers probably can do it but not when it matters against teams like Penn State.
Maybe you didn't see it, but in the regular season game RU had 2 atrocious non calls against Penn State. In Penn State box a Penn State player stuck her hand out & stopped an RU shot. In the open & plain as day. The whole stadium saw it. Also Colby Ciarrrocca was tackled & hauled down in the Penn State box. Again no call. We would have scored on 1 or 2 of what should have been penalty kicks. We win.

This.

Both were egregious...especially the handball early

Temperatures in Morgantown should be in the low 40s throughout the match.
