Can anyone tell me why Clifton Park was the venue?

It was switched from Troy. No idea why

Interesting as I now reside in Cohoes NY and wondered about the venue !?!

Interesting. Thanks guys. Lived in that neck of the woods for many years. Shen is a good system. Overall best athletic programs in the region. Or at least that was the case when I was up there. Probably still true.

That is probably still true, but nothing up there beats Saratoga in August.
