The RAC is quite possibly the ugliest building on any RU New Brunswick campus. With that said I hope we do not waste any money putting lipstick on this pig and save all funds for a brand new arena down the road.

Question, are the 2 building going to be directly connected? If so, this is a great opportunity to throw some paint or power wash that bastard.

Outside of Xanadu, the RAC might be the ugliest building in NJ.

I remember walking past Xanadu during the Super Bowl. People from outside of the area were heard mumbling, "what the fvck is that ugly thing".

I think I like the graffiti idea for the RAC.

Not going to happen....it is a great home court advantage. You will see it go up to 10 or 11k. You will not see a brand new state of the art facility it is not needed..it doesn't seem to bother Duke too much

So we make the new court into a great home court advantage. We shouldn't stop progress for that reason. The RAC is woefully inadequate compared to other arenas around the country. Comparing to a all time winning program is also silly. Duke doesn't need a new arena to attact recruits and dollars. The RAC is only historic and meaningful to us.

Nah, all you need to do is expand it on the north side and add a new entrance and concourse. You could add another 1k, 2k seats on that side. Make the entrance pretty, spruce up what's already there and the RAC will be great!

I like the look of the RAC. It’s distinctive. RAC bashers barking up the wrong tree. Go over to the Ohio State Board and read about how OSU fans hate their new basketball arena and are jonesing for their old arena!

And where would you putting the handicapped seating in that scenario?

Building new stadiums is a thing of the past that era in all sports is slowly coming to an end. Keep the RAC.
Unless you're in Milwaukee...

I can't see there ever being money to build a brand new arena. I'm no construction expert, but I would think that in the NY/NJ area, a new arena would probably cost $200-300 million. Not happening any time soon, or in our lifetimes.

The more realistic option is to renovate the RAC to expand Section 118 all the way up to the rafters (like the student section on the opposite side), and to expand and improve the entry concourse and amenities throughout the building. I'm sure they can find locations within the expanded section 118 for handicapped seating (perhaps like the recruiting pavilion/patio is cut into the student section in the football stadium).

With the unique acoustics in the RAC, and fans reaching the rafters on all four sides of the court, the RAC would be the loudest arena in the country.

Ugliest? Not even top 4! Hill Center, Lucy Stone, RBS, & Quads would like to have a word with you. RBS is fancy new ugly versus the dated 70s ugly of the rest.

The business school is cool looking. Add Scott Hall and Hickman to that list. Can't wait til those are torn down.

How is the RAC woefully inadequate....it has the same size floor as every other gym, it has concessions like every other gym, it has lights, heat, AC, videoboard etccc. Once practice facility in done it will be upgraded....explain to me how it is woefully inadequate.....You don't like it. It is a hostile environment arena no need to change and diffuse that

I guess you have never been to any other arenas. I get it you like the nostalgia but it has a tiny concourse that everyone gets jammed up in upon entering the building, less concession stands and restrooms than most modern facilities. What does the practice facility have to do with the current state of the RAC? You didn't answer why we couldn't make a new arena a home court advantage. I get the shape of the RAC enhances acoustics by that can be replicated.

All those things that are lacking can be improved.

The only hard one IMO would be the concourses under the the 200/300s.
