Is he a better game manager than his previous iteration? Absolutely not.

Vedral is nothing more than a mediocre game manager. What is the downside of making changes? The ship has sunk!

Unless the equivalent of the Dallas Cowboys o-line from the '90s is sitting on the RU bench along with the clone of Patrick Mahones, I don't see what obvious changes Schiano could make personnel wise.

And the Minnesota Vikings Purple People Eaters on the defensive line.

Everyone still needs to realize we just played 3 straight 2021 elite teams. We are not ready for that just one full season away from being almost UConn level.
And we could have won 1 of those 3. I expect us to still get at least 5 wins. Good possibility of 6 and a bowl.
our weakness right now has me worried, and that isn’t QB…it is the OL( I don’t say this often but no one has impressed me this year. This group is about even with the 2010 group so far. Hope to see them improve) and the DL…except for 2nd half Michigan, very disappointing so far. And this past Saturday, not having either Melton very well could have changed the game. We had 2 huge drops and one of them may have been Noah’s best throw at RU. And our DB’s were exposed big time last 2 games.
Still think we are at least as good as 3 more teams on the schedule and could win 3-4 games to finish up.

More and more people will soon see what I’ve been saying for years.

Schiano is a great recruiter/program builder. But 4 hours on game days he’s not good.
Greg is fine, not perfect but he is a very good coach overall and terrific program builder. Mel Tucker actually was a lot worse than Greg and our staff yesterday in terms of situational management. But you can see that talent wins the day almost every time. Chill out with the negativity - we don’t have the horses yet and nitpicking inconsequential stuff is getting tedious and counterproductive. Beginning to just be a “look at me, pay attention to me” event in your posts.

I think in college football…coaching is much bigger factor in success than talent.

of course you need talent, and RU certainly doesn’t have it..but good coaching could lead to an upset every once in a while.

We lost to three top ten teams two years after being worse than Troy and Louisiana Monroe. Get your shit together.
Bingo. See my post on the other thread responding to the guy who pointed to Western Kentucky’s production against MSU. People forget just how bad we actually were in 2019. Last year’s covid season means nothing other that we managed the pandemic better than some other teams with more talent than us. From a talent perspective, we’re still starting at ground zero and we were down 2 starting OL (arguably our 2 best) on a unit that was already weak and our best player in the backfield.

Vedral threw for 208 and Cole added another 50 plus in garbage time. Once again - I ask the complainers to find a game where we netted 250+ in the air vs a ranked team under Ash. I’m not sure there were any where we even netted 250 all purpose yards (and that would include a large amount of garbage time). We were really that bad. Complaining about the offense at this point is ridiculous. The first step in the rebuild was not losing to teams like Eastern Michigan (we blew Temple out) and not getting embarrassed by bad power conference teams like Kansas (we beat Syracuse at their place). Remember the blow out loss to Buffalo? Folks need to wake up and see reality.

This is spot on. People forget already how far we have to go from what Flood and Ash left us. Those two should be added to the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Our lack of speed and depth was completely exposed yesterday, but we are still very improved. Clark and Longerbeam showed evidence they will be an upgrade in overall athleticism and certainly Max Melton upon his return (albeit next season) will make a big difference.

We’ve attempted some but the execution largely has been abysmal
Has the execution really been much worse then last year? I'm not sure. The Cruickshank TD was one in the pros column for this year. I also think the last 3 weeks vs top teams is clouding our judgement a little.

Might want to tell the elite B1G teams that games aren't really won in the trenches then.
I think the real point there was, we are not as behind some of these teams in terms of talent as some would make us out to be.

I think the fact that we played Michigan in a very tight game, and MSU in a fairly tight game bares that out.

The idea that "Knute Rockne" couldn't win with this group? I do think that is a BS cliche.

As a Rutgers graduate, I have been a Rutgers sports fan since the late 1950’s. Your troll post doesn’t cut it. The reality is that the team is not anywhere competitive…..a bowl game this year is not what we should be looking toward, but rather giving the younger players on field time to develop.

But what about this season supports this argument?

If anything, between the adjustments made vs Michigan, and the end of the half sequence yesterday, it certainly looks like we've had the in game coaching edge in these games.

How is this team "not anywhere near competitive"?

Schiano is a better in game coach than Harbaugh. Agree 100%. Michigan finally has the talent. But Harbaugh will lose a gimme. Almost happened last night

The trick plays worked better last year. There was barely any pre-season so teams probably didn’t have time to work on those types of what if scenarios. We were not better at regular offense flow. We did execute better in the red zone though.

Man you are asking for trouble talking about GS😂😂. We are what our record say we are, GS should never be above criticism in my book just like any other coach. We weren’t prepared on Saturday period, who is that on.

Don’t know how you can say he’s not a good game manager when he schooled MSU at the end of the first half.

Don't want to hear we lost to 3 of top 10, that's a loser mentality. 2 of those games we could have won, 1 we absolutely should have. Enough of the bs

Schiano outcoached Mel yesterday. He was the reason out kicker missed a FG. Very clever timeouts. Schiano , I believe could have had the UM job, glad he didnt go there.

He needs to use the portal as Mel has to upgrade talent. Speed in the defensive backfield is lacking for one obvious issue.

You are confusing lack of talent for mis-management. Greg managed the game very well compared to Tucker. The talent difference on offense was glaring at every position. Yes last year was close because the staff completely out coached Michigan state. This year Michigan state figured out how to use their talent.

That’s because they are not actually Rutgers fans. Some use Rutgers references in their names, but are actually fans of other teams. Some show up on days like yesterday. Some are on here almost every single day.

If you don’t have the talent, all the coaching in the world won’t matter. Did you watch yesterday’s game? We were again overmatched at the LOS on both sides of the ball, and MSU had a RB and WR better than anyone on our D outside of O3. That said it was a one score game at H vs. a now top 10 team. Was MSU ripe for the picking, yes. Do we have the talent to go toe to toe if they’re not committing 7 TOs, obviously not.
