Forget about the special being about Nixon having an impact on who won the national championship. The focus was about 5 teams flip flopping in the polls and you know it was five usual suspects including Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Texas and Missouri.
It had me thinking. These are schools that have built the history of competitive college football 45 years ago and these teams have done it year in and year out. We are really still at the infancy stages of entering that world yet we've been going head to head in recruiting wars for some of the best players in the country. Rutgers and Flood and company have my unwavering support in what they are trying to build. Flood has been a head coach for 4 years of his life. This is not going to happen overnight. And if we can win 7-8 games a year while building a track record, so be it. I hope we can stop bickering about losing a few of these kids. Not only do I believe we took a shot, I think we pulled out all the stops within the legal means of recruiting.
You want to get dirty, fire the coach, find $3 million a year to pay a new guy and bring in players that don't want to go to class and show up on the front page. I'm happy to be part of this building process and I think we will all know when it's time to turn the page to someone knew. Right now, flood is our guy. Support him and welcome the kids we land.
