I was able to catch up with Duron Harmon, who served as a guest head coach for the spring game. He was also one of my favorite players to deal with and was just an all-around good guy. Harmon was also very complimentary of Chris Ash saying he loves what Ash is doing with the program. The first time I saw Duron play was at a spring all-star game in 2009 at the University of Delaware. Harmon was actually a standout offensive player and probably could have excelled on offense at Rutgers. It was easy to see how much of an elite player he was that day as no one on the field came close to him. Also playing in that game was Jamil and Jamal Merrell. Jamal was lucky if he weighed 180 pounds, although he really filled out at Rutgers. He actually became a state trooper in Delaware and earned an award as the top recruit in his graduating police class. It was actually called the Governor’s Outstanding Recruit Trooper Award. Now, back to Harmon.
I was actually talking to Duron the night before the 2013 NFL Draft and he was just hoping to get drafted. He was not expecting to go as high as he did but it could not have happened to a better kid. It has been good to see him do so well as he is easy to root for. Here is my latest on Harmon.
