Rutgers expanding safety efforts; more off-campus patrols, surveillance cameras

I do not like that one bit. Reminds me of Ben Franklin's famous quote: "People who trade liberty for temporary security deserve neither freedom nor security."

Increase the foot patrols, fix the broken street lights. I don't want big brother watching my cousins walking down the street around the clock.

So the reaction by Rutgers for drug dealers breaking into each other's houses. Is handing out light timers and installing cameras. It seems to me they are deflecting from the real issue. Since all of these robberies where drug related why not set up some sting operations to catch the drug dealers. Its always nice to increase security, but these breakins are not random, They are targeted by drug users/dealers.

No it is the reaction to the football players. When it was and is 99% of non weed\alcohol crime occurring in those neighborhoods being committed by non RU affiliated NB citizens looking.

I was at RU 03-07 and when football was just rising and no one especially the NBPD did anything about the rapes and assaults on RU students committed by NB residents and their friends from Franklin and elsewhere.

Me too. I will never forget the house on prosper street that got broken into and girls got raped by 4 men while they pistol whipped the only guy in the house and made him watch. I knew someone who lived across the street in a house full of girls and they were sacred for months to walk after dark.

I also chased a guy out of our frat house one early Sunday morning. Went to the cop in the grease truck parking lot and the cop could care less. Turns out the guy was hitting up many houses on union street at the time going through fire escapes.
