"In two weeks, the N.C.A.A.’s primary legislative body, the Division I Council, will vote on a measure that could severely restrict graduate transfers. The proposed rule change would require that colleges accepting graduate transfers be docked a scholarship the next year if the transfer does not earn his secondary degree within a year."

The article goes on to say that if approved, the new rule may go into effect on August 1st, presumably impacting recruiting for next season.

Perhaps they should dock schollies for every kid that leaves early. How many 1 and done have failing gpas since they dont attend classes ???

Also.. alot of grad programs take more than 2 semesters if research is involved

Makes sense in theory.

Graduate transfers take advantage of specific provisions that allow a grad transfer to be immediately eligible.
Should be held more accountable than others.

In practice, seems excessive.

I like the idea of trying to limit the grad transfers since that market has exploded. But how long until the sports centric schools add masters degrees that are garbage but can be technically completed in one year to aid their sports programs?

I feel like we'd be fine with this..our kids get plenty of support

Why will you even need the designation of Grad Transfer in three years? 90% of people that currently transfer are eligible immediately and that will move to 100% soon enough.
