I know a lot has been posted on this topic but thought I would share this tidbit I got last night from someone I trust greatly:
It was definitely Narduzzi who expressed initial interest in the RU job. He really wanted to come here and was even willing to take less money to do so. How it went down was that he reached out to a prominent HS Coach in NJ who is is very friendly with. This Coach then got in touch with some big Donors who brokered a mtg/discussion (not sure if anything was ever done face to face). This all happened on the Thursday before the weekend. From what I am told, we were already pretty ways along in the process with Ash and RU wanted to go in that direction even after the discussions. Not sure how deep the talks went but I can say with 100% certainty based on this source I fully trust that Narduzzi really wanted out of Pitt and wanted the RU job and was willing to even take less to come being an East Coast guy and the potential RU presented in his eyes. And he was the one who reached out to RU 1st.
