SIAP Not the way for UCLA to start season

This game might actually be competitive now that both sides will be minus key players. Before the arrests it was looking like a 20-point win for UCLA

Looks like the Big Baller overpriced sneakers price went up with the extra money LiAngelo Ball's father will be paying a Chinese factory to make his brand of sneakers so LiAngelo is able to leave that country
Or maybe make a deal to have the kid turn pro and play on a Chinese pro team
on a work release program for a couple of years.[laughing][winking]

My guess is they get deported and have their passports revoked

I live in China. I don't see a way in which they would be let off too easily. Chinese don't like the idea of losing face, which would be the case if they so readily dismiss charges because these are American basketball players. I don't think these guys will get a prison sentence, although has it been said what they are accused of stealing? But they for sure will be locked up in detention for a while before being deported.

Maybe sitting in a Chinese detention center will wake the kids up and make them say "hey..maybe I did something wrong here when I could have just played a game and had fun and gone back home"

Trump must apply pressure to the Chinese to keep them in hard labor for the full 10 years. Afterwards as ex-cons we should pull their citizenship. Hopefully Daddy runs his mouth and joins them.[poop][poop][poop]

I'm all thugged up gettin' my reparations from Louis Vuitton!

Why does he need to steal. Isn’t this the kid that has a Ferrari or something?

I feel very bad for LiAngelo, those kids have no chance to be grounded.

He'll probably have about a month of being "grounded" now. I feel bad for him because LaVar obviously didn't do as good a job of parenting as he probably thinks he did.

Suspend the 3 for the year from playing a game but let them attend classes.

As Doctor Spock was fond of saying

" They only do what they see at home "

China can revoke their visas. Only the US can revoke their passports as US citizens.

Apparently they are getting, as a punishment, 20 days of house arrest. They aren't going to be leaving the country with their teammates. Stealing in China has to be the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time.

They are damn lucky they didn't get real jail time. Probably didn't hurt to have the President in their country. As a show of good faith, gotta imagine that played a part in their getting off with such leniency, relatively speaking.

Let me get this straight, the NCAA moved games from North Carolina over a bathroom bill but they scheduled a game in China?!?

That's the NZAA for you...punish states with silly bathroom laws that affect almost no one and allow schools to travel to human rights champion China! Love it! Maybe North Korea and yemen will get regionals soon!

I think Lavar hoped to open three stores in China

The guy who died in North Korean custody tried to steal some kind of sign with the Rocket Man on it. I'm not trying to say that China is anywhere near the paranoia of the NK's, but you still need to be mindful of where you are.
I remember when I went to Europe in '68 for the summer. When I was in Spain a lot of Americans who were avoiding the draft told me to not even think of doing anything that would get you arrested by the Federales (sp). The dictator from WW2 was still very much in charge and even taking a towel from your hotel might get you in trouble. I decided that this was good advice and stayed out of the way of the police.

He died in North Korea?

Yeah, you're right. He was released when he got "sick" and died at home. My bad.

This is why I find it really stupid that grown adults think it’s a good idea to bring these guys to China. Make no mistake, the players need to be more responsible. But they’re 18. Not a smart move by a lot of people in this situation. I know stuff like this isn’t new, but going to China was a bad idea

Correct, doesn’t mean they’re smart enough to not do it. Im not taking responsibility away from the players at all. They are completely in the wrong. However, 18 year old are very immature. After seeing this I wouldn’t go to China moving forward

I get that about 18 year olds making bad decisions and being immature but these guys went through weeks Chinese culture education. I think this has a lot more to deal with immaturity
