As per Master Plan? The new site didn't specify and the renderings look like the new S/L/T facility is on Busch. That looks like Werblin in the background.

They should provide more detailed renderings if they're asking for big money including outside elevation drawings.

That said, I donated.

Why would they move to Livingston when they have a facility on Busch

Master plan had those sports moving to Livingston.
Master Plan had only tennis moving to Livingston behind the Bainton Field outfield. It never mentioned soccer or LAX moving to Livingston & those are on the Busch 2030 master plan.

I wonder if this is the reason they roped off and didn't fill a large part of the blue lot last season. To avoid having to bump people out when this facility is built.

No way they are that forward thinking.

I don't know about that.

But that's what I mean. Rutgers should be clearer on their plans and renderings. Especially at this stage with a new website and video.

I'm not sure what you're saying. I don't see anything in the Master Plan thay says soccer & LAX are moving. In fact, it's pretty clear in the Master Plan that it states quite the opposite in that they are expanding the soccer facility on Busch: http://grfx.cstv.com/photos/schools/rutu/genrel/auto_pdf/2014-15/misc_non_event/15-master-plan.pdf

My understanding is lax will be built on Busch, where there is an existing structure. Ideally, you would want everything housed there. Locker room, weights, training, everything. I know there is talk about moving them under the stadium near where the tunnel is, so I am not sure if that is a temporary thing or that will be permanent, with Yurcak being the spot for games/practice.

I'm not sure it if is being addressed, but they either need to put field turf in there, build another place for soccer, or have better grass allowing them to play all of their games there.

Tennis has been on the master plan to be moved to Livingston as I mentioned above.
But the renderings released yesterday have tennis in the same building as Soccer and Lacrosse, which you sad is staying on Busch (unless I totally looked at them wrong).

There are renderings of the death Star over our football stadium, too..,,:cool2:

Soccer & LAX are staying on Busch & will be the primary tenants/beneficiaries of the new Busch facility on Yurcak/blue lot, but it'll also have a tennis office & lockerroom because the tennis courts aren't moving to Livingston anytime soon & they deserve a nice place to use too. This also expands the potential donor pool with adding another sport like tennis. The 2 tennis rooms in the new facility are about 5% of the building & can easily be repurposed if/when tennis moves to Livingston.

This puts 5 teams in the new Busch facility & 5 teams in the new Livingston Multisport Complex, which is 10 of our 24 teams. Football facility is getting upgraded which makes 11 of 24. That's almost half of our teams getting new/upgraded practice & lounge facilities which opens it to a nice donor pool as well. Plus softball & baseball just started construction on their new practice facility so 13 of our 24 teams will get new/upgraded facilities which is nice.

Interesting that it repeatedly says "tennis" and not women's tennis.

Wonder if Hobbs is thinking of bringing back certain sports now that we are B10.

I really think they are missing the boat with this facility. Florida has a great facility like this that is between the woman's lacrosse field and the soccer facility - fields on both sides with the facility parallel to the field not perpendicular. They put 10-12 rows of bleachers on each side. Plenty of room on the terrace as well as room in the bleachers for spectators. This way you can have a field turf lacrosse field on one side and the turf soccer field on the other.

I think you're looking into it a little too much. If it's the only sport we play, male or female, there's no need to differentiate.

That's an interesting thought but we likely don't have the space to add a 6th field over there for a separate turf LAX field & you probably need 4 practice fields. LAX should play on the rec turf fields across from Werblin, if they want turf, & maybe upgrade stands over there & build a new rec field elsewhere.

Got it. Thanks Leonard. So I'm assuming the tennis courts stay near the Hale Center as, well, right?

You would not need incremental fields. Sub out a lacrosse practice field. Play and practice on the field turf. Lacrosse then goes 100% field turf.

You're welcome. Looks like they're staying there for now.

I don't know if that'd fit as you'd have to turn the fields. I like the idea though

If you throw in the fact that Swimming and Golf(2) have excellent facilities that's 17 of 24 and didn't Crew get a renovation to the boat house recently(17)? So what teams are left? Cross Country (2), T&F(2), Gymnastics, Volleyball and Field Hockey? Or is Field Hockey also in on the Livingston complex?

Gymnastics & Volleyball are in the Livingston Multisport Complex with MBB, WBB & Wrestling, so Field Hockey, XC & T&F. I don't know enough about the swimming & golf facilities to know their conditions.

Well we have our very own golf course that is, for a long time now, I believe the most played public course in the state, and The Werblin Center was built in '92 IIRC and I'm pretty sure is still more than capable to handle the team's needs.

If we're bringing anything back start with Men's Swimming and Diving since it's more of a B1G-ish sport than any of the others ones cut. And we already have a pretty good facility for it.

Nothing is going to be brought back until we're a full share OR unless the "alumni and friends," of a particular sport, pick up the tab for the scholarships. I wouldn't be surprised at all if it would be fencing, with both men's and women's teams (to alleviate Title 9 issues), before anything else IF we were to "add" sports. The sport has a long, rich history, On The Banks.

Golf course lacks a true clubhouse (for public and teams) and facility for its teams.

They change spikes in the parking lot with the rest of us.

They should move and build a new Rutgers Club at the golf course.

I like this idea. A lot.

The course is fine, still would be ideal to have a dedicated golf facility. University of Illinois has a great one with all of the bells and whistles, indoor range and short game area, fitness area, lounges, academic rooms. Clearly not a priority at this time.

I believe there is an indoor practice facility in the plans for the golf team. Would make sense to combine a clubhouse and practice facility.
