He no longer works at Rutgers after a long storied career, 2 yrs. What happened?

To my understanding, he was hired because he had friends in the local print media. The only point of his tenure was to try to get the local papers to stop being so unfair to Julie, and to our program generally. In some sense, it worked. The media did seem to back off of Julie. Unfortunately, the football team continued to make bad news, so the papers never had any shortage of things to write about.

Now, the AD himself is well connected. So we don't really need to use low level print media politics to keep the coverage fair. Hobbs has no need for a Liucci.

Oh, don't believe that for a second! The moment they smell blood in the water the feeding frenzy will commence anew.

There was no need for him with Hobbs. Hobbs knows how to deal with the media..Julie didn't..hence, she brought it Luicci.

Hopefully he lands another gig. Regime changes are brutal on a lot of good people who arent necessarily part of the failures.

Always thought he was fair to Rutgers. Ya gotta watch out for those career moves. Would not mind him covering Rutgers again, but he's probably too bitter.

No doubt about it. But its Hobbs's job to make sure that doesn't happen.

Julie really should have worked out here. Her problem is that the shit hit the fan right away and she never overcame it. She certainly wanted Flood gone from the minute she was hired. She never really had a chance to build up any good will. You have to have some early success to be liked, and part of that is just dumb luck.

People will turn on Hobbs in 2.3 seconds if we are sitting here in springtime without any positive momentum following disastrous basketball and football seasons.

I'm confused. Didn't he tweet he was leaving back in the spring (last March/April)?

Umm, actually this is way off.

Care to elaborate?

Julie was never AD material. She was a Mike Rice type of coach before we knew who Mike Rice was. As a HC her school was sued based on the way she treated her coaches and players. She was also dismissed as a HC when one of her team's revolted against her.

And she had trouble telling the truth when it came to her coaching history, especially in front of cameras at her initial press conference at RU. And she was terrible in front of the media while at RU and could not do a Q&A with the media. And the employees in the athletic dept at RU didn't like her. And the RU boosters had no faith in her. Finally the RU Administration had no faith in her as the AD and would not let her hire a new FB coach. And she failed to provide proper oversight of the FB program in ways that I will not mention here.

Other than that some probably think that she got a raw deal. But many of us are happy where we are now instead of where we were under her regime as RU AD.

Julie Hermann was a PC HIRE hire of Kate Sweeny..that Barchi either slept thru..or didnt care about athletics at the time.. she was NEVER qualified to start with.

....And she just happened to be gay (not that there's anything wrong with that-to MOST of us).

Didn't get along with fellow employees? Does that include the ticket office who couldn't process my payment-TWICE-in the past 6 days (money came out of the bank). Or the longest running staff member-a "C" student in the one class I had. I could go on...
