So does the season open Nov. 13 or Nov 15?

  • Rutgers will hold closed-door scrimmages against George Mason and Lafayette prior to the Nov. 13 opener against Rutgers-Newark.

No big deal. We are not the only team that plays one D-3 team. Princeton plays one every year after their exam break.

RUNewark is the first official game of the season. It will count in the standings, be a fully ticketed event, and played on Nov 13

What "standings" are those? And as opposed to partially ticketed events?
Yes, it technically counts a win on Ed and the team's record, but it will be ignored by postseason selection committees and for purposes of RPI calculation.

Let's be honest Mr. Kelley, this sham of an opener was scheduled to avoid any risk of matching the infamy of the 16-game losing streak during the Littlepage error. No other reason.

I know I'll be kicking myself on selection Sunday

Prediction - Rutgers ticket office will offer complimentary tickets to a Big Ten game to season ticket buyers to make nice for charging us for a Div-III opponent.

Why do they play closed-door scrimmages? Why send George Mason all the way to P-Way for something like that? (Lafayette has a shorter bus ride compared to them.)

Shill...

I know its hard to believe, but I had absolutely nothing to do with scheduling games this season. Imagine that! Draw whatever inference you prefer from the scheduling of our first opponent. Why don't you join the Court Club this season btw? The more the merrier I always say...

As for the other issue...

These closed door scrimmages are a way to "play" another D1 team, within the rules of the NCAA, in the preseason. We will travel to one, and host one.

They are used to work on specific concepts and situations, rather than strictly be 20 minute halves of basketball.

Interesting. Never thought of that. Boy, every time I'm reminded that we've lost 15 in a row it amazes me all over again. That's hard to accomplish.

Unless you're accessing the personal information of paying members of this site how would you know if I'm a Court Club member or not?
That's not really the right thing to do. And try not to take the comments of a frustrated fan about the program so personally. I'm actually aware you don't coach, play or recruit, believe it or not. If our administration had done as good a job managing the basketball program for 24 years as you've done running the Court Club the last few, we'd all be a lot happier fans.

^^Please say you didn't write this with a clear head.

Obviously I meant Court Club member. If not, you'll have to explain. Mr. Otterstedt is the local owner of the site, no? Mr. Kelley is an administrator of the men's basketball board. Why should he have access to my credit card and other information? You don't need that type of data to moderate the board and/or ban someone, do you?

Does Mr. Kelley know the Scarlet Nation user name of every member of the Court Club?

I don't need to know, nor do I have any access to, the private information (financial or otherwise) about you or any other user on this site.

I do however know my CC brethren quite well (for the most part)!

We set up our payment system so that nobody at the Club has access to any personal financial information...ever...unless provided to me on a purchase by purchase basis at point of sale, and even then all transactions are run via PayPal.

I'm just saying its been my experience over the 15 years or so of doing this message board thing that those who are most vocal are usually those who give back the least. There are obviously exceptions to that rule...but usually that's the way it goes.

BK already cleared it up, but I know him well enough to know he is a man of honor and integrity. He is also intelligent and can put ancillary pieces together, and that's why I posed the question I did.

I've never been to a court club meeting but I'm pretty confident that people that constantly bitch about the program don't join a club that is soley focused at bettering the program.
