Whatever happens - the team will be easy to root for and fun to watch. Can we overachieve a bit and make the NIT? It’s not out of the realm of possibility. However, I am predicting a .500 season.

More difficult schedule than last year, 6 new players.. I too am really exited for the season and seeing this team grow but expect about the same record as last year

It’s gonna take a while to click...don’t overrate this team yet.

Correct. The B1G should not have an elite team this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if only a couple of teams make the Sweet Sixteen. They will, however, be loaded with good, above average teams. We’re not there yet. The league schedule will be a bear.

After the debacle on the gridiron, I can't wait for BB to start. As much as I would like to agree with you, we have too many new guys and it will take at least half a season to have them gel. I don't think this is the year with make any post season tournament, but I would love to be proved wrong.

Rutgers mens basketball really needs a winning season to break the decade plus cycle of losing seasons. It impacts future recruiting, attendance at games and perception of the program nationwide and more importantly in the B1G.

That seems to be the general consensus. Carino thinks about 12 wins. I'm not seeing it. While to OOC schedule is better I wouldn't expect losses to any of the weaker opponents like we had last year, Plus I would expect more upsets. Barring injury, I think we surprise and finish near .500.

Playing as a freshmen D1 is no where near as much of an adjustment in BB as it is in other sports. Most of these kids, especially the good ones, have been competing against older kids their whole life.

I'm thinking 7 OOC wins and 6 Big Ten wins as everyone starts to gel. That's 13 wins, the same as RU had last year before the Big Ten Tournament started.

Remember, even when Rutgers was talented and well coached but young... they struggled early. 2011-12 comes to mind. Mike Rice brought in a talented recruiting class and they took a long time to adjust in November and December before beating Florida, UConn and at Pitt. Rice had his issues, of course, but he was a good coach. Maybe Rutgers will surprise this year, but I think they are a year away from making a big jump.

A little different though, the core of the team is still veterans like Geo and Omoyuri and Thiam and Doorson Most of the new players will be coming off the bench.

I'm hoping 7-3 OOC and 9-11 in conference with a couple big big wins at home like we used to get. Maybe OSU, maybe Maryland, maybe Michigan. A few things have to happen though like Omoyuri being (statistically) better than Freeman's 11 pts and 7 rbs.

Jerry Carino, who is the extremely plugged into RU predicted 10-13 wins on Danny and Jon’s podcast. We are at least a year away.

Have fun watching the kids learn and get used to the B1G. Next year is when we take a big step.

Kiss Shaq and Myles all didn't play last year but are not freshman. Harper and McConnell are bench players and only Mathis will be relied on for major minutes likely but he is also the highest rated recruit we have had in a while.

Sanders Freeman and Williams were all terrible shooters. Sanders and Freeman held up ball movement. Team is much longer and better shooting all around. When we are on from 3 we will pull some upsets

Two goals:

1. Don’t finish last place
2. .500 record

I’d be happy accomplishing one.

I think if we get to 13 wins that would be a good goal considering tougher schedule. With all the newcomers, I would expect a couple of WTF losses yet a couple of surprising upsets. The most satisfying aspect will be seeing how the culture has changed under Pikiell (toughness, defense, rebounding) and seeing the team improve as the season goes on and the youth developing. The future will be exciting!!

9-11 in the B1G would be phenomenal! Hope it happens...

I think 12 or 13 wins should be the expectation assuming we are generally competitive in most losses (2 or 3 blowouts is excusable). 14 to 15 wins would be phenomenal.
