So Glad we aren't in a Thursday night league anymore

Those Thurs. night games were a great idea when they first started. Now, however the ratings have severely dropped do to the NFL claiming the night. It's a shame because there used to be some really good games on Thurs. night. Now we get not so great matchups of ACC versus whomever. As no one wants to play them anymore. I find myself only watching during commercials of the NFL game and I love college football. Although tonight's game is pretty go so far.

I'll still watch a good college game , like tonight, over any NFL game that doesn't have the Giants or Jets. I know I'm in the minority however.

Like a 12:00 noon game is great shakes? The Thursday night game was the one thing the Big East did right.

Couldn't agree more, but one change, Unfortunately, I am a jets fans, so I really only watch them for NFL, except for playoffs.

Would much rather watch good college games anytime.

The BE proved Thurs night football was a big event that brought in tons of eyes & $, so much so that it expanded to other conferences & the NFL, which has sucked the life out of it. 11/9/06 was the best ever. I'll watch Thurs night CFB over the NFL. The NFL needs to stick to Sun & Mon.

Mami, Cal, USC , UCLA(2), Washington, Stanford, Auburn and Kentucky all play the next few Thursday nights.

Can't wait until the B1G starts playing Thursday night games. Oh yea......it's coming.......

Do you really think ESPN would want us on Thursday night? We would get beat soundly by either of those two teams playing tonight.

I don't know about the B1G doing Thurs. night games. I mean the network has been in business a long time now and they never felt the need. However, I can see your point if they did it as an B1G network game and not on ESPiN. Would provide more programming and would be a must watch for all B1G audiences.

I'd expect the B10 to have some Thursday night games especially after the next contract. All the other conferences have them, including the SEC. I wouldn't expect too many like the ACC but I could see 2-3.

I watch the college game every Thursday night. Would much rather watch college than an NFL game.

And the blue bloods fought it. However, live programming is king and if they can get RU vs Washington or RU vs UCLA they would pull trigger in a heartbeat. Not sure who Maryland plays out of conference but I'd imagine Maryland vs WVU would pull better ratings than showing BTlive for the 5th time......

I would put BIG money on Fox winning the B1G's Tier 1 media rights, and even BIGGER money on them putting on Thursday night games. They will want to put as many games as possible on their networks (Fox, FS1, FS2) and will pay handsomely for the content. I feel incredibly confident in saying that more Thursday night games are in our future.

I think it's very probable that Fox will win a piece of the B10 contract, I don't know that I'd say it's likely they win it exclusively. Actually I think that's the least likely but you never know.

In terms of probability, I'd put a shared ESPN/Fox deal at most likely, ESPN exclusive at 2nd and Fox exclusive as last. I mean if they just blow numbers out of the water you never know but I think those probabilities are the most realistic.

dislike Thursday night game and if the Big 10 does go to them which I don't think they will, I am not worried that RU would be showcased

Nov 9, 2006 was the best college Thursday night game ever played.
The one the week before between UL and WVU might have been better unless you were a WVU fan or an RU fan.

At the time the Big East lucked into a big score - Thursday night is a highly watched TV night, and once baseball ends there is basically no meaningful sports going on. If you happen to get two highly ranked teams (or even just one) you get big ratings.

But now that the NFL has taken over the night, its back to being lame - no different than Wednesday or Firday.

I don't mind them. Last night's game had two recognizable programs in a good game. At least if you are into college ball, this is it for the night. Certainly better than those noon games on Saturday when the fans are still half asleep or still stumbling around the parking lots from drinking early for breakfast. And...hated those really late games on the West coast that would start around 11pm.
