There are no moral victories and the sooner fans learn that the better... this Rutgers team led by Sanders is not happy in that lockeroom... Bullock can play...he has heart something you can’t teach... Bullock needs to continue to lose weight and work on his conditioning... He can be a steady 8th man in the rotation...

I know many don't like to celebrate "moral" victories around here, but I will. Playing without Mike and Eugene, this team showed so much heart out there today. The crowd was great and so was Corey. I've been on Corey after the last few games because frankly, he deserved it. His decision making and poor shooting deserved the criticism I showed him, but not today. He made great decisions and shot out of his mind. So did Freeman today. He was tough. Baker had a great game and Doorson and Doucoure (sp?) did IMO a very good job against Haas and Haarms.

Oh, and Bullock btw, "got game." You can see his athleticism. Yes, he's only 6'4" and needs to lose about forty pounds, but he can shoot and play. And toward the end of the game he nearly destroyed one of the Edwards down low. I think Ash could find one of his missing DT's on Rutgers BB team--LOL!

Again, it still sucks to lose, but to lose by 2 after losing by 31 in their house is a moral victory that I can be proud of.

I agree! A great team effort.

Corey Sanders stepped up with 31 pts 7 REBs
Baker 16 pts
Freeman 14 10 Rebs
Bullock 6pts 6 REBs

This is why people need to exhibit patience AND why Sanders return is critical for next year.

Pikiell getting this kind of effort against a team that so totally outclasses us is amazing. He just needs a few more pieces and more of these become wins next year.

Is Bullock really 6'4 though? Saw him in person after storming the court against Seton Hall and he seemed at most 6'2.

If they counted moral victories the same as a regular victory we’d be a 1 seed.

According to posted measurements he's 6'4" but hey, you never know. All I know is he can play and he needs to lose weight, or maybe Ash can convince him to play football. He nearly knocked one of the Edwards out towards the end of the game.

He threw the best block I've seen all year. Put him at right guard and give the ball to Blackshear.

And the sooner fans like you realize that a game like today deserves the rest of the fans to give props to the team and those that played well. Your post was uncalled for and really brings nothing to the table. You are probably one of those that jump on Corey or Freeman or whoever when they need it but refuse to give credit when due

Prefer a 2 point loss to highly ranked Purdue compared to a 31 point loss to co-cellar dweller Illinois

This. It's not a moral victory; it is still a loss. But as a fan, it is a far more enjoyable loss than the loss to Illinois. The game was entertaining. The team played hard. And maybe with a lucky bounce or two they could have won.

As a fan, this year, that is enough. Sure, I'd rather have Ws. But if you can't see and enjoy the progress from previous coaches, then I don't know what to tell you.

Our kids played their hearts out for 40 minutes and we got a bad whistle all game. Four or five times we got hit going for a shot with no call. We only got 2 foul shots in the first half and 10 for the game. I think Purdue got 27. One of their guys got 3 on a phantom foul and bullock got knocked on the floor shooting a three with no call. The BIG should really look closely as this game tape. Hopefully we can bounce back against Indiana on Monday night.

RU played one of the best teams in the nation and held it's own.
They deserve our kudos, especially with the players RU has out with injuries .
There was no quit in this team today and they played with a lot of heart in a close loss to a very good if not great basketball team.
[cheers]

In many ways this game was similar to Seton Hall where they had a first half lead and then Rutgers made a late rush with Sanders leading the way .In that game Rutgers got the lead and were able to hold on for the victory.Rutgers tied the score against Purdue but they kept making the big shot along with amazing foul shooting.Great effort by Rutgers and kudos to the crowd with their support which energized the team.Outstanding performance by Sanders with 31 points and very good supporting double digit scoring from Baker and Freeman.

They played hard and inspired but just another loss. Lets see what happens against Indiana.

Very impressive. Just a testament to the staff and players. People have questioned some recruits, but Pikiell is definitely a top tier coach. Many, including myself had this as a 30 point loss. The program continues to will themselves against top opponents and prove us wrong.

ToddB33... hey dummy... my post states that there are No MORAL victories at this level... Pike would tell you as much... I also have been following Rutgers Basketball since 1967... Season tickets in both sports for 40 years so don’t tell me what I should post ... Nobody carries the torch more for Rutgers than me....I believe I wrote my support for Bullock and his having heart... I would bet you are under 40 and was still in daddy’s nut sack when I started watching RU...

Dude - no moral victories?

So losing by 50 to Purdue is the same as losing by 2?

Tell that to the fans and recruits.

Keep losing by 30/50 with piss poor effort, and the future of this team is very bleak as everyone will give up on them.

Keep playing with the heart and determination they displayed last night, and people will still be engaged and hopeful for the future.

After the previous 2 games, many folks were checking out and giving up.
Now people are excited again.
You can’t see the difference?

Indeed
They could have easily sleepwalked through after the Illinois disaster
Then down double digits early
That end of the half mini spurt did wonders
Good on them

When you go to games do you only applaud good play if the team has the lead?

Miserable front-runner fan talk.. that's what this is. Yeah, you're a real "winner" because you don't accept defeat.
