i wanted to share this here...obviously the comp in this video is not great. but is it me, or does Geo look like he grew taller? What height is he supposed to be?

If you watch the whole video on you tube, the comp isn't all that terrible. A V Tech signee, couple St. Bonnie signee's, Holy Cross, a UNH player, former GW player. Not sure Baker looked as smooth as some of those guys though.

Good to know. He will contribute next year and has a nice stroke...but is definitely not someone (imo) who will make a huge difference as a freshman.

And thats totally fine btw.

Give me a Jeff Greer and I'm happy.

I agree with you. I don't think we'll get a year out of Geo that is equal to what Greer gave us his freshman year...If Greer gives us 10-15 minutes and can give us some spot up baskets, I'll take it. I think he'll be somewhere in between Mike Poole and Greer. If Geo is a guy who can be a 10ppg guy when he is an upperclassmen, I'll be happy. If he ever becomes a Jeff Greer, Pike hit a homer with this recruiting pickup considering how little time he had to get him

I have a strange feeling that many will be surprised by how much Geo will contribute. I hope I am correct.

He looks like a guy that can dribble and create some shots, but more importantly, they go in the basket. Given our present roster I can't see why he couldn't contribute right away in some capacity.

I realize that highlight tapes don't show the misses, but his stroke looks pretty smooth and will be a welcomed addition on the banks .

That's the key. He looks like he can create whether it's his own shot or penetrating and finding someone else. He takes a massive step back jumper that he clearly has worked at to create separation for his shot and as he gets older taller and stronger that shot will be that much easier for him to make

We really only have Sanders and Johnson who can create their own shot

I see the Greer comparison; since Geo is from New England, he has the opposite issue of being "under the radar" from Jeff mostly due to competition level. Not even considering the fact that JG grew up playing against Ricardo, the average NYC pickup game is a lot more intense.
Most of the guards in that video were pretty flashy but didn't seem very quick off the dribble. Geo did look slow by comparison but I think can hit open shots which is sorely missing from our current team and almost the extent of what we expected(and got) of Greer his entire career.

Bol Akot (2020 recruit RU was just first to offer) clearly has that extra gear that's exciting to see. The difference was evident from the instant his clip started. First name that came to mind for me was Brevin Knight. (Still can't get used to the idea we have Brandin as a coach). Second name that came to mind was Tyshawn Taylor but saw a couple of other videos and he's got a long way to go.

I am excited to see more of them both!

Looks composed, though the environment could easily be responsible for that. Good stroke, easy athleticism and movements. We are also in desperate need of a ball handler with size and a shooter, both of which he seems to be. Really think he will contribute significantly next year.

My hope is that Geo will have a bigger impact if he can handle the ball and pass as well as is advertised. RU was last in the B1G in an important ratio: Assists/Turn Overs. Michigan was best in the Conference at 1.5 while RU at .8 was last in the Conference.

This stat is as bad as our FT % and FG %. Michigan had 513 Assists and 340 TOs. RU had only 362 Assists and 437 TOs. That is almost 100 more TOs than Michigan. Any improvement here will really help next year.

Bottom line: we need to true point guard.
