this looks like it could be a good with the financial backing and firms involved along with the innovation. Wonder how these things work from a payback to RU perspective. So, how much of $100 million in sales comes back to RU via patent holder.

Depends on the licensing contract. Generally these deals involve some mix of lump sum payment, equity in the company (mostly for start ups or spin offs), and royalties. It's not necessarily all three in every deal. Hard to really say in general because like most business deals it comes down to leverage and negotiation when the contract is put together.
