Quote from the announcers.

So with a few seconds left in the possession Souf's got the ball and loses it on his hip. Previously he lost it before his hip.

Put in Dadika....anyone who knows that you're supposed to shoot towards our basket/ make it.

HORRIBLE!

We need more 4 and 5 stars. Why doesn’t pike bring them in.

Does this UTR'er really help our team? How?
Does Souf attract top level recruits who'd like to play THAT STYLE OF B-ball?

You're proving my point. Yes I'd like us to land some 4-5 star players (maybe locals who want to play / win for the home state).

But bringing in Mensah is giving the other team a boost (they don't have a to guard him).... and it's like giving up.

No more UTR"s ....PLEASE!

That would be ideal. If next season doesn't start off well with the new guys than CP might have to rethink his recruiting strategy. Give a little on the defensive end for some proven offense. It can be a solid 3 star player, but they have to be better shooters. We don't have the luxury of taking potential if we want to move up B1G ladder. Not sure if all the guys on the roster now will be legit B1G players going forward, except for Baker.

a good coach can make the tourney with a roster full of 3 star recruits
usually that's a team filled with upperclassmen as starters and first off the bench
Pike doesn't have that type of team , yet.
He is relying on Baker ( freshman),Thaim ( sophomore) ,
Doucoure ( freshman) and Omoruyi ( sophomore) to play the type of minutes coaches like you're pointing out have juniors and seniors playing.

Its the skill set of the player that matters more so than the years of experience.Baker is a major contributor as a freshmen and that happens throughout the country.

When I turned it on I saw lineup of Souf, Dadika, Sa, Issa, & Bullock and knew something had gone terribly wrong.

I think there was a 2on1 at one point with Souf and Bullock. It didn't go well.

The last couple minutes were very difficult to watch, with all the free throws clanking off the backboard and rim (four straight, I think) and the players almost falling down when trying to dribble the ball around the perimeter. Also some horrific looking shots, including a clean air ball and WTF shot.

Guys, We act like RU is on the top of every 4 star recruits wish list. Pikes got Geo which you could argue is the best freshman in the BIG this year. I think beating SHU raised way to me expectations for this team. It sucks we are always in this situation and the natives are restless. There will be more misses on the recruiting trail until we have the reputations of a solid BIG program.

That's baloney. Look no further than Gonzaga to see the model of how to recruit and red-shirt to build upper-classmen-laden teams that made a big splash in the tourney.. which increased exposure and recruiting power.. which lead tot eh point where they could just re-load rather than rebuild.. and now that they do that.. they have been slipping a bit from the heights where they began. iirc, they may have also had a number of Mormons.. which get that super-redshirt 2-year mission thing to come back even older, bigger, stronger

I think you tend to see frosh playing at other schools when the previous starter graduated or left early for the NBA, not because there just isn't anyone else to put out there or because the frosh just beat out a talented upperclassmen.

Were relying on underclassmen because we have no upperclassmen with any talent. Ideally your frosh would be coming off the bench while learning the college game unless you are bringing in 5 star 1 and Dones.

Gonzaga also gets a fair number of foreign players and transfers. Players also develop and get better there. Red shirting only works when there is real player development. Red shirting is a hard sell at RU. No decent player with potential is going to sit out a year on a losing team.

Are you saying something we're supposed to read between the lines?

E.g. Johnson (Long Beach Poly) is red shirting on a losing team.

Please clarify.

Thanks
