wow.. that's some old school sheet right there.. for my DDJ-SR i have a dedicated laptop(1TB) running Serato on Win 8.1I'm pretty much retired from DJ'ing now, but my system has a Pioneer CMX-3000 Dual Disc player hooked into an MTX Soundscraftsmen MX 300 mixer. My old system is a pair of Technics SL-5100's (predecessors to the 1200) and a pair of Sony Discman into a Numark mixer. I have most of my music ripped off of the CD's (about 350 GB's), so I was thinking of getting a dedicated computer I could use if I ever wanted to get back into it. I also have a couple of digital turntables - on my list is ripping some of the hard-to-find 45's and 12" singles to digital.
Yep, that was my setup when we moved down to VA in 2008. With the kids getting older, and the unpleasant prospect of having to learn a new genre that I disliked (country), and other issues I just decided that it wasn't worth trying to reinvent myself down there. Ironic, but in the year leading up to when we had to return to NJ for Tyler's treatment, I had actually DJ'd several events for their school and was getting a bit of interest.wow.. that's some old school sheet right there.. for my DDJ-SR i have a dedicated laptop(1TB) running Serato on Win 8.1
Bench Yoshi - give Spanky his shot.Man, I would love to see you at a turntable Spanky. We've got to make that happen.

Bench Yoshi - give Spanky his shot.
I know what you're doin' - you're hatin' on my girl Minnie!Spanky spins a better turntable, but Yoshi has better command of his musical selection.
AVBs great, but he's no Deadmau5.
I have no experience with the steel wheels so indulge me. After the thread about chest pounding and watching the associated video I watched a few more EDM videos. Yeah, I don't get it. Aside from the talent in the crowd it seems these DJs are playing premixed samples. To me it looks like they have a really awesome set and they hit a play button and occasionally hit the fade to engage the crowd with random profanities.
The whole idea of seeing a performer is to see them perform live.
Am I missing something?
Again the talent in the crown is worth a look, in and of it self.
Thanks. The entire mainstream EDM scene is pretty silly in terms of actual DJing. Most of the DJs do play premixed sets and pretty much just clap along with the crowd for 2 hours. However, the crowd doesn't really watch the DJ for their performing, they watch the entire stage which has millions of dollars of production pumping through it. When you have a stage the size of a football field, covered in LED screens, pyro, lazers and lights....it really doesn't matter what the performer is doing. It's honestly a lot more interesting than watching a band play.
The more less mainstream EDM scenes/genres are a lot more focused on DJ skill and the music.
Either way, the real talent is their production skills. These guys are not only DJs, they produce their own music. They are the same guys producing music for the big Top 40 stars and where Lady Gaga, Bieber, Katy Perry, etc.
I remember you being the DJ at Mona's wedding reception.
Ah, good times! I'd forgotten all about Morell Street!....and 72 Morell St.
