Despite the negative press this team received this season, can't be anyone on this board who wouldn't have signed up for this few years back. We are taking about the #1 team in the country in our building in prime time. There is so much negative comments out there about being 3-3, how our D stinks, how our QB stinks, blah blah blah. Well reality is we could be talking about a noon game against South Florida or better yet Uconn. Suck it up you complainers and be grateful for what we are about to enjoy. We could easily be 5 -1 and possible a low ranking. Just enjoy the ride because it wasn't very long ago we were in the Big Least! Win or lose Saturday this was a home run for this program. Rome wasn't built over night!

We have some overly emotional fans that are constantly moving the goalposts on this team. Last year we won our toss up games and got blown out by the big boys but it was considered a huge success. This year we lost one of our toss up games and were competitive with the one big team we've faced so far. So it's a different feel to the season because with Michigan back among the elite, the path to a bowl is unlikely. But there is a lot more football left to determine whether we've become a better team. The next few games will be very telling.

jerseyja, I agree with you. I'm bouncing off the walls with excitement that #1 in the country will be in R House, and it will be the Prime Time game on ABC. How can any RU fan not be pumped up about that?!

Also, my other alma mater, James Madison, is hosting ESPN College Gameday Saturday morning. So for me Saturday will be the best TV day ever (although I'll be at HPSS for the Rutgers game)!!

The off field arrests and problems and the email issue bother me more than anything that has occurred on the field. I don't have a problem where this program is with it's on field play. It's going to be a process. I've been watching RU football since the 70s, the team has more athletes , size and speed than it's ever had. However, they are obviously now playing to a different level of competition. I don't get overly emotional about recruiting rankings and don't think much about people who want the coaching staff fired because of the opinions of folks at Rivals, Scout, Prep Star or whatever. It's a very inexact thing and not a science.

You do know we could be 0-6 or 6-0 and tOSU would still be #1 right?

You can't just dismiss the off the field disgrace and atrocious performances against Wazzu and TTFP.

Further we beat Indiana by a FG which does portend well for non basement opponents of which we have 4 on the horizon.

If your goal isn't to

1) Keep a clean program
2) Beat scrubs convincingly
3) Not get blown out by your biggest rival

Stick to intramurals. Because 3 goals have been here the entire Schiano era so the only ones moving the goal posts and making excuses are the Floodies/Blue sky.

While I agree the off field stuff is terrible and it hurts the program, I used the word "Despite". Forgetting about that the on field state of the program is much better now. We didn't get the toss up game this year, last year we did. Happens with every program so get use to it.

I think Floods Big 10 record is 4-7, w 4 Blow outs , 2 close losses, 2 great come from way behind wins on the road, and 2 home wins. I think RU was favored in only 1 of the 11 Big10 games so far we have played.

That's the Big 10 record.

We are talking about the Big 10... We went from the Big Least/AAC to the Big 10. Did anyone think we were going to win 8 + games a year right away? Making a jump like that takes time, a lot of time. Just be glad we were able to get into the conf. Let the program evolve in the Big 10 now. We are on the map, feet are wet, people are about to see us in prime time (for better or worse)... sit back and enjoy!!!

No, I never would have signed up for a bunch of players being arrested and kicked off the train, and out coach being suspended.

True. However, in past seasons the team tanked whenever they faced adversity. This team hasn't done that. That tells me that there is likely a group of players / coaches (did I just touch the 3rd rail?) who are the type of people you need to keep moving forward.

On the day we officially became a B1G member I never would have dreamed that:

-We failed to parlay B1G membership into recruiting gains
-A Penn State program reeling from the sanctions would have recovered and be kicking our a** already
-Rutgers managed to throw away a reputation for doing things the right way which took years to build

But, I guess that is "overly emotional" for me to point out.

1) No one is happy with the off field stuff. Even if it happens at other schools(which it does) none of us want to see it happen here. And this is what effects 2&3
2) We beat the scrubs by a combined score of 90-27...if off field stuff didn't happen, Kansas game would have been an absolute blowout.
3) PSU- yeah, that sucked. And again- if not for 1...may have been a completely different story.

As for WSU - I am not so sure that is an atrocious performance. They played Cal very close and have beaten Oregon and Oregon St.

Flood needs to show us more the rest of the year but I don't think we are all that far off

OP you are on the right track…

3 years ago, you would've turned down 3-3 and playing #1 at home on ABC?

Granted off the field stuff this year sucks…
