Steve Pikiell talks to Aaron Breitman

Regarding J Williams, Pike's tone was as if he's was aware of the charges and that there was nothing new.

Sounds like Pike knew of the charge, and acted as if it was old news that was just coming out.

Pikiell - "I think we're headed to having all league games... I've been saying that for 5 years"
"I think that's where this whole thing is headed down the road, so there would be no longer non-conference games, that's just my opinion, that's not coming from anywhere else"

It's very clearly going there. Half of the OOC games in football that used to be played are now in the same conference.

It is true that Pike has been saying the above since he arrived here. Lol. Obviously conference games will increase due to expansion but there will always be non conference games.

While I like having other NJ based teams on the schedule, conference games draw much better. Of course, if we have Ace and Dylan on the team next year, we can play an exhibition against the Washington Generals and the place will be sold out.

Goddamn shame if it went solely to league games. Not only would you play the same teams over and over again (mini NBA) you lose some of the traditional rivalries like Seton Hall. It's always fun to see Rutgers play against teams from other conferences (Miss St, Wake, etc.). I know playing some of these Q3/4 games aren't the most exciting but it also gives the team a chance to gel, work out the kinks, and prep for the conference.

Idk who souf is lol but yeah I doubt he would say anyone on his team is a bad player. But you can listen for insight. For example he said Fernandes is out of shape in this interview. He didn't actually say that but he said several times that once Fernandes gets into shape he will be formidable..

I've said it before and I'll say it again...

I have complete faith in Pike. He's proven time and time again he knows what he's doing.

The ONLY Pike recruit I didn't, and still don't understand: Souf.

Remains a headscratcher to this day.

Wasn't that because he was connected with another player that we hoped to get, but didn't end up getting? Or am I thinking of Matt Bullock?

What has he said in previous years that turned out to be not accurate?
I mean - the year he went off about “best team ever” and we proceeded to require OT to beat Lehigh in the opener and lost to Lafayette. He definitely raved about plenty of players who didn’t go on to have impactful seasons that year.

It doesn’t even matter that we got better as the season went on turned things around later. The point is those Patriot games still happened first so the team was capable of losing to those types of teams (and not just a fluke since there were close calls in addition to the loss). After that year I stopped taking much away from Pike’s pressers. I did notice he’s been more careful with what he says. Less committal. Which is smart.
