I started a thread expressing my feelings about the Eastern Conference Finals. If I wanted to troll, I would've said Hey Rangers fans, eat a dick!
So you assume I'm a Devils fan and I'm getting joy out of your loss??? Well you're wrong, I'm actually a Devils fan and yeah, I can thank the Bolts if I want, lol. See what I did there.
In my original post I kept it clean and simply congratulated the Lightining, I wonder if you guys would've been as generous if the shoe was on the other foot.
The Rangers had a great season but I'm glad it ended the way it did....GO DEVILS!!!
I watched this series with baited breath, hoping for a Tampa Bay win and I'm a douche because I make a post saying thank you Tampa after they win. Maybe Rangers fans are douches for attacking hockey fans who 'had the nerve' to route against them.Sorry, but your OP was trolling, just embrace it. I have no horse in this race, but it's obvious you were trying to egg on the Rangers fans, who are obviously at a low point right now. That's behaving like a douche.
Uhhh, yes, you acted like a douche by thanking Tampa for winning. If you simply congratulated them on winning, that would be mostly fine, but thanking them means they did you a favor of some type, which could only mean you wanted the Rangers to lose, ergo, you were inciting the Ranger faithful, who obviously are going to be down after a tough loss. That's trolling any way you slice it. Also, it's "bated" and "root."I watched this series with baited breath, hoping for a Tampa Bay win and I'm a douche because I make a post saying thank you Tampa after they win. Seriously that was hilarious, maybe you should have waited until you were sober until you posted that.
If you live in NJ and are a Rangers fan, you're no better than JG "repping" NJ but in the end offering his loyalties out of state.
Not this shit again... :rolleyes:If you live in NJ and are a Rangers fan, you're no better than JG "repping" NJ but in the end offering his loyalties out of state.
Because "Looked awesome. Balanced team with the ability to turn it on at any moment. Can they knock off whoever comes from out west" would actually bring about some good discussion? If you are a rangers fan and saw the thread title why even click on it and then cry about what's written?
You make a good argument for why Rutgers shouldn't have any claim to New Jersey. South Jersey will always be linked to TTFP and North Jersey to Notre Dame And other traditional powers. We are the team that plays in no place special and lacks luster. Either border geography matters or it doesn't. The logic you apply suggests it doesn't. Therefore, in your opinion, why should anyone but am alum support Rutgers? Based on what you have said so far they shouldn't.No wonder we can't recruit this state, we have alums and members of this board who still don't understand the dynamics of NJ. Listen carefully - bergen county and north jersey is inextricably linked to nyc. For work. For play. For sports team allegiance. Similarly, that's how things are for Philadelphia. Pretty simple concept. You aren't gonna change it and you certainly aren't gonna make any friends by insisting that we all root for a team with no luster who play in newark. Besides, how many total miles separate these teams anyway? 10? The nets and isles show all these geographies are essentially interchangeable. So calm down with the Tennessee references. We aren't rooting for the preds, after all.

That's a pretty stupid comparison. When I was young.....so very, very long ago....there was only ONE hockey team in the area....The New York Rangers. That sorta made it easy to pick a team. So you think because the NHL relocated a team to this area I was gonna drop my team and root for the New Kids....as long as they didn't move back out of the area. Nah, I've never quit a team....although the Knicks are pushing it.
51 years old here an ex rangers fan who dropped them when my home state got a team. My friends and I all became Devil fans because of state pride. We are all in our 50's now and do not like the rangers!! So the Devils have plenty of older fans and younger fans like my 8 year old son. And YES I am happy the rangers lost and it happened on a Friday at the garden (another failure at the worlds most famous arena ....cough, cough) so ranger fans have a long weekend to think about it instead of beng distracted by work!

So if JG justified rejecting Rutgers by saying he rooted for TN as a kid, you'd be okay with that rationale?
