It doesn’t stand out nationally, but at 68.8 possessions/game (adj.) this is the most uptempo team of the Pikiell era. So the off-season stuff wasn’t total hot air, just the shooting lol
And because of our poor shooting, especially early in games, the faster pace has our opponents, who shoot better, getting out to big leads relatively quickly. It doesn’t stand out nationally, but at 68.8 possessions/game this is the most uptempo team of the Pikiell era. That's wild. Next year will be funAlso the fastest tempo in the B1G in conference games
I think it also explains why other teams outrebound us so much as we shoot so many shots with a low shooting %.And because of our poor shooting, especially early in games, the faster pace has our opponents, who shoot better, getting out to big leads relatively quickly.
Maybe we should slow things down early to keep our opponents from scoring quickly, then pick up the pace to our advantage as the game progresses.
I think some of that is based on playing Illinois, Ohio State and Iowa, but it’s definitely a faster teamThat's wild. Next year will be fun
That’s my biggest concern (shot selection). We settle too often for a long 2pt FG rather than an extra pass or taking hard to the basket. Too many shoot first guards and not playmakersI would prefer our Tempo comes down and we just take better shots.
Better shots = higher shooting percentage or better chance at rebounds.
Our shot selection has been dreadful this year.
It doesn’t seem so — we have the 30th fastest avg. offensive possession length and the 357th longest defensive poss., although our average opponent is pretty awfulI'm not a big stats guy, but couldn't any increase in possessions/game also reflect opponents shooting earlier in the clock as well from possibly poorer defense?
I had that exact car, and an earlier model. I used to leave the earlier model on the streets of Newark with the keys in it. Nobody stole it. The model in the picture was totaled after a deer ran into it. The moral of the story- tempo is not good.
