That's why Washington is over-ranked

Washington lost 6 games last year.
They are are far from a Top 10 this year.
A fringe Top 25 team this year maybe . And that's only because of Ross.

Beating a pitiful FBS team like Rutgers ( sorry but true) is no feat.

Oh Lord here we go again. You were telling us for months that they weren't 20 points better than us, either, just admit that they're a bunch better team than you thought they were.

Washington is ranked high because of speculation as in who's coming back this season, what they did last season, what the other PAC teams will be like this season as in who they lost, new starting QB's, etc.. including the fact Washington had the best defense in the conference last season and the games they did lose last year were by the skin of their teeth. For people that actually follow the game of college football they know to look at who's returning. That's something the fair weather fans don't look at.

TBH I wouldn't have started them so high in the preseason polls. I would have ranked them anywhere from #20 - #25.

No , I said take RU and the points.
Last year's team would have covered the 26 points. I thought we might have some resemblance of that team.
There is a reason we are ranked # 96 this year and dead last in the B1G . We stink.
Washington is not a Top 10 team. Far from it.
Let's talk in November .

Maybe last year's Rutgers team against last year's UW team.

What? That's crazy talk. What gives you the idea that last year's team would have covered? Did the cover against Penn State? Ohio State? Michigan? Wisconsin? Nebraska?

Yes, we would have.
Carroo, Longa, Gause on the field would have made for a different game last Saturday

Don;t be a clown. How many games did we lose the year before the best season in school history?

So far they aren't showing any reason they aren't a top ten team. Beating Rutgers doesn't make them a top team? So Alabama isn't a top team because they played and beat Western Kentucky? What kind of logic is that ... also who else should be in the Top 10 then, Clemson? Who at #2-ranked escaped the might Troy Trojans by a score of 30-24. Or LSU, who at #4 lost to unranked Wisconsin? How about Oklahoma, who lost to the AAC champs Houston (who belong in the top 10). Sorry, two blowouts and if you started up there in the preseason, then they have every right.

It's week 2. Why do so many people get worried about where a team is ranked. The season will play out with lots of unexpected surprises. It always does. Just sit back and enjoy some football.

UW may finish top 25, top 15, unranked or in the playoffs.

Washington wins it by a score of 59 - 14. Coach Petersen pulled the starters right after the 5:00 mark in the 3rd qtr.

btw Washington's starting defense didn't give up any points.

Washington is not over rated BUT, based on what I have seen tonight, Tennessee is definitely over rated.

Tenn. was extremely lucky to not lose to App St. last week. They were able to recover 3 of their own fumbles in that game, including one in the endzone in OT. If App St had managed to convert just one of them, they probably win the game.

I'm not convinced. Definitely took the foot off the pedal. Sixty, yeah. But 70+? Regardless, in no way am I saying they're not good. They're just not top 10.
Agree with this nonsense people are spouting that they could have hung 70. That is a big number and it assumes more successful long throws and kick returns, not likely. Everything was not going to fall their way the whole game. Petersen went to the run in the second half as good strategy to win the game, burn the clock. 48 is a long way from 70. That said they are a good team with a great coach.

Hey.... the Rutgers - Washington game is over. Time to go back to the Washington message board...see ya next year prior to the 2017 game.

Washington has played two games, winning both in convincing fashion. Does that mean they're a top 10 team? Maybe, maybe not. But you really can't ask for more than what they've done so far.

Washington (2-0) blew out a second consecutive opponent at home to start the 2016 season, continuing its hot offensive play that dates back to last November.

It goes in cycles. At the time this series was scheduled RU was going bowling every year. RU will be back on track in another 3 - 4 years once Ash gets his players in place.
