Anyone watch this YouTube show from Quaker Steak restaurant. Cannot believe how many "softball" questions the hosts and fans pitch Coach Ash. It seems no one is challenging any of his in-game decisions. Does the "producer" have orders to go easy on the Coach? To me, the show is not worth watching.

What decisions would you like to challenge?

Probably because most people are smart enough to know that if they ask some of dumb-ass questions that are repeated here ad-nauseum, that Ash will make them look stupid.

People don't mind asking stupid questions anonymously (obviously). But they tend to be more circumspect in person, especially when it's being broadcast.

"Umm, hi Chris, this is not my question, but that of the experts on Scarlet Nations {giggle]. Have you heard of ummm, Scarlet Nation. No? Well, anyway, folks on Scarlet Nation want to know what the hell you are thinking continuing to play the same QB with such bad results. Why don't you give Gio or Rettig a shot? As a defensive coach, do you really know how to evaluate a QB? Umm, OK, thanks. "

You can call in yourself to ask the hard hitting questions....this is a weird thread
None of the know it alls would ever ask Ash a question face to face or over the phone or even via email with their real name attached.

These are the same folks who will be his loudest supporter after his plan is successful in a few years.

Whenever I read these type of posts I always if it says more about the person making the comment or the folks s/he is presumably talking about.

I'd have no problem telling the coach I see a slow progression and think his plan will work and he's doing a good job considering the program he walked into and is only been here 5 games.

Who among you will tell him you think he's an idiot and Rettig or Gio should start? Or that you could call plays better?

Sports fanatics should never question, second guess or strategize, what fun is that?
Follow you team, root hard and shut up, that's what being a die hard fan is all about.

Right? So.. why aren't they giving Gio a shot? Giovanni Beast-mode would run it in again for a TD and that's just not what Ash wants to see..
Makes sense right?...

Crickets..

Apparently it's all about whose doing the best in practice that week.. but it looks to me like CL is a FANTASTIC practice QB.. too bad he can't deliver on the field during game time. So when is it time to look at a back up plan?

Can you imagine? I could just see some wanna-be heckler trying to pin Ash down by asking if he's considered that maybe another QB might not play well in practice but might be a Heisman candidate in the game.

Ash's response: "Seriously?". And then bursts out laughing.

I'd like to see that, no one would use the words Heisman candidate and why would you assume another QB doesn't practice well?
I'd have no problem asking Ash if one of our other QB's does a good job of running read option in practic and does he think that QB could run it in a game.
I'd tell him we can't throw the ball the way we are and because we can't execute the RO, we don't run outside the tackles.
I believe I'd recieve a respectful response and I would not be considered a heckler.

In reality, I'm sure that if the questions were respectful, the answers would be too. But the answers will remain unsatisfying to many, I'm afraid.

A couple times now, a caller has asked a question about the QB and gotten exactly the same answer from Ash that such questions get on this board (because it's kind of obvious). Basically, the answer is always going to be some variation of the staff considers everything and then goes with what they think is the best option to help us win.

In general, it's unlikely to see Ash, on TV, get into any specifics about what a backup player is doing badly enough that they aren't given playing time. So any answers about why backups aren't playing are likely to be very bland and general.

I agree...the format doesn't allow for follow up questions so you can't pin him down.
If in fact you could follow up, I'd say "coach, we have no run game outside the tackles except with a WR, aren't we making it to easy to defend us"?

That strikes me as a good question that might produce an interesting answer.
