The hicks move ! Brilliant coaching

Without Hicks at safety we may not have won the game.

Well he did completely blow his assignment in the 1st TD run for Army so there's a little give-and-take there. Great job otherwise!

He calls out Hicks...and that's ok with you too?...Hick's based on his time in the secondary played a pretty good game...There was NO need for frat boy to make his comment

We might actually get to a bowl game. I know you guys won't watch the games anymore but I can not stay away. Just too fun a time. Floodies and Floodatoids on Family Feud. "What do you call pants that are to high?" "High waters!" "Floodies!". "We will play Steve".

Nuts :So glad to see even after a win you still persist being a clown...were bullied as a child?

Bob, I've asked you 100 times not to bother commenting to me, yet you continue to insist to do so. Once again a personal, unprovoked attack, maybe the 15th since I've been back. How on Earth have you NOT BEEN BANNED YET???

I am very happy we won today, no question, just pointing out a simple fact about something that actually happened in the game today. You get it? It is a fact, not an opinion, is that OK with you?

HUH??? The TV announcers "called out" Hicks, actually, I'm just responding to a thread, essentially in a "tongue-in-cheek" kinda way, while ALSO knowledge Ing that he played well today. That's it. You really need help Bob.

TV announcers said it maybe 5x a big win...explained after 4 straight losses its a big win for morale
Yep, they basically said that after all the turmoil and 4 straight losses this team definitely needed a win and beating Army was a big win.

It was said in the context that the program is struggling both on and off the field and that they really needed a win. Beating a 2-9 Army team at this point in the season should never be considered a big win, unless of course, we are struggling as much as they are.

One of our, (potentially), best defensive players has been part of a senseless RB rotation all year, brilliant. Given all that's happened in our secondary since the summer, it takes 11 games and a Cioffi suspension to take a chance.

Hicks practiced 1 week at safety and was one of our best defensive players today, that says alot.

Shockingly Hicks was our best DB. Fumble recovery, Pick in the End Zone, and many tackles. All with 3 days of practice.

Hicks should realize there is an easier path to the NFL playing DB than RB. There are about 9-10 DBs on every NFL roster vs 2-3 RBs.

It is a big win. Keeps bowl hopes alive. Just 10 short years ago, we had not yet even tasted a bowl appearance in our modern history. I enjoy watching the team play so, yes, keeping bowl hopes alive is in fact a big deal.
So we're really going to pretend that going to marginal bowl games that we've been going to regularly for 10 years now is still a big deal? Really? What you're saying would make sense if it was 2007 or 2008.

We are a big 10 team ....beating army is great for the kids involved ....it does not move the needle in any way for the fanbase or program .

You might not value just making it the post season anymore and that's fine, but this conversation is about the semantics of calling today a "big win". A late season win that keeps a team's post season hopes alive is a big win. The announcer was justified in calling it that.

My wife is probably hoping RU does not make a bowl game because she needs me outside getting the Christmas lights up or some shit, but I am trying to see RU get in a bowl game because I actually like this.

He also over pursued to the right on the Army Fullback's long TD.Not used to playing D and certainly not used to playing the Triple Option. Also a good move by our HC.
Not to take anything away from KF...but I think Hicks volunteered to play D....Hicks was stud HS DB btw

The post season should not be an option. This will be a losing season, win out or not. Bowl hopes should not be alive. That is the problem with calling this a big win. This season is a big loss.

I agree. If we make a bowl at 5-7 it will still be a losing season even if we win the bowl game, lol.

Hicks is an athlete, given his time on defense played a great game, did he also probably blow a few assignments probably, turning two turnovers trumps that. If he were at OSU or MSU he would be the talk of the BIG.

I take it you've not yet read: "How to Win Friends and Influence People"?

Hicks was a terrific DB in high school in Florida, of course that's 2 years ago. He played/practiced a bit last season as well in Sept

I do believe this says it all

Hicks played excellent on one day of practice. What does this say about the rest of our secondary though? It says we are not very athletic in the secondary. No amount of experience is going to make up for this deficiency. I do not believe we will show marked improvement in this area next year. Now you can say it's the offense we played but anyone who knows football can see how athletically superior Hicks was compared to anyone we have back there. This does not bode well for the future of our secondary they are simply not athletic enough. It's very disconcerting.

Didn't we have a running back play in the Defensive backfield for a couple of games last year?

KJ....Just going by one game against a pass-poor (pun intended) Army squad doesn't make hicks one of the best defensive players on the team. He played a good (great?) game today. We can obviously call out flood on numerous things, but this isn't one of them.

And the 3 RB rotation is one of the few things that seems to have worked for KF all season. Our running game has done well all season even with a QB playing as poorly as CL has, the opponents KNOWING a run is coming. The different styles of the RBs has resulted in different backs leading in rushing from game to game and I'm sure not easy for the defense to game-plan for. And if a RB goes down due to injury, or switched positions, there are RBs with significant experience to fit right in.

If you wanted to use one RB for the bulk of the carries and receptions, who would you choose? I bet there'd be lots of heated discussion between Hicks, James, Martin, and even Goodwin.

The DL and receiving corps rotates players out all the time. And I bet the majority on this board wouldn't mind a QB rotation. So why not RBs?

I saw "Hicks" in title and thought this would be a WV thread
LOL. Not quite specific enough. "Dentally challenged" would have gotten you down to WV and KY (and parts of central PA). "Couch burner" would have done the trick.
