RU finishes tied for last in the Big 10 with Nebraska at 4-14 with a 12-19 overall mark going 8-5 non conference. RU is seeded 13th and falls to 12th seeded Illinois in the opening round of the Big 10 tourney to finish at 12-20 overall.

Swing games for Rutgers non conference: St Johns, Creighton, Clemson/UMass, Wake, and Monmouth. I think RU wins 2 of these but it would be a big plus if they could get a split in Vegas. St Johns is terrible but I think its very early to expect a young team like RU to win these games away from the RAC

Can RU avoid not slipping up to the likes of FDU and Howard and escape with no WTF games?

I think in league its going to be very tough. I guess any games is winnable after last years improbable win over Wisky but realistically Im still going to say there are not many games that RU has a shot at.

The likes of Minnesota, Illinois, Penn State, Northwestern, and Nebraska offer the best shots and RU needs to hold serve at home against these schools. The road will be tougher of course. RU play 9 games against these schools and I think getting 4 of them is doable.

The team of course will be better at the end of the year rather than the beginning. Just looking for that progress this year as opposed to last and looking to see the team cut back on blowouts and to look like they are actually building toward something

Woo Hoo! Thanks Bac! I will have my predictions up tomorrow night, have some business to take care of tonight

Good prediction, Bac. I think anywhere from 10-13 wins is possible. Anything more than 13 wins means we should seem some visible progress on the court this season. I think next season is the year where we can hope to god and raise it to the 15-20 range.

4 B1G wins is a stretch. Perhaps we will win 2, so let's go with 10-22 overall record.

Did you predict these based on research?Just wondering.

some research on whats expected from other schools and just some experience knowing how these things end up going down..lol

I think anywhere from 9-15 wins is possible and I think I went for the most likely outcome.

There is no way you will lose to St. John's. They will be lucky to field a team this year.

I'm a about a game or two less optimistic and I think we struggle for 10 wins. I also think 4 B1G wins will be a stretch.

We have looked extremely unprepared for the opener the last two years and I'm hoping for a little better this year (on Sunday). Friday is really a scrimmage.

I thought RU-N was just a scrimmage. Guess not. Two B10 wins, beat St. John's. Four conference wins seems quite optimistic. I fully expect a WTF loss as well. Happens every year.

Okay okay. If we could get 13 wins that'd be nice. Coach Jordan needs something to help his marketing plan to recruits.

Friday counts as a win or loss. I think 4-5 big wins is do able.

I think you are really underestimating this team. if this team plays better later in the season 5 out of the last 6 games are very winnable

This team will be much better in February than November

As a result, if the out of league sxhedule was played last, I think we would improve enough to go 10-3

But that's not how it works

8-5 out of confrence
5-13 in the big ten
13-18

We win a game in the big ten tournament

14-19

The improvement sets up 16-17 as the year we reverse the record and get to the nit with 19-20 wins

14-17 Overall
9-4 OOC
5-13 B1G
Depending on matchup, can maybe win one game in the B1G tourney.

Bac-

Good effort. I always try to remain optimistic, but it's hard to argue with your overall assessment. I just hope we see substantial improvement from November to February and this young team does not get demoralized when they take their lumps early on.

I'll give it a shot this year...
8-5 OOC
5-13 B1G
13-18 Overall

Hopefully we can limit blowouts, and things finally start moving in the right direction this year. If Mike Williams can find his shot, it will be a huge boost to the offense. I also think DJ Foreman could have a major impact, as there were parts of his game that were encouraging last year. Every year we seem to count on these type of players improving and it never seems to happen. More often we see regression from year to year. It would be nice to see this coaching staff actually start to develop players over their Rutgers career.

X-factor- if Sheridan shows up this year and plays to potential don't count out an NIT appearance!

Don't know enough to try to predict how many games we will win, but from everything I have been hearing this team should be fun to watch.

I'm just trying to be real about it:

9-4 OOC
3-15 B1G
1-1 B1G Tourney

13 - 20

I too believe we can win as little as 10 games and as much as 15. There will be no tourney for us this year. Sorry.

9-4 OOC
3-15 B1G
0-1 Tourney

12-19 overall.
Hopefully more competitive than last year. In other words, no 30 point blowouts.

I think you are really underestimating this team. if this team plays better later in the season 5 out of the last 6 games are very winnable

in theory they are winnable because the teams we are facing aren't as strong but these same schools have also looking at those games as their best shots to pick up easy wins. These games are on the road for RU. I think RU can pick off an Illinois or Minnesota at the RAC but on the road these games are tougher. These schools are more experienced and still have more talent..ditto for Northwestern. The problem with that end stretch is does the losing from earlier in the season take its toll before the schedule lets up. Winning 3 of the last 6 would be a major achievement and a true sign of progress to end the season

The NIT BABY!!!!

Mar. 2, 2016 Michigan State 7:00 pm ET L 16-14/6-11
Mar. 5, 2016 Minnesota 1:00 pm ET W 17-14/7-11

So here is the thing:

1)I took the advice above and say we beat a depleted St Johns team. This will help us have a pretty decent OCC This is needed if we even think about the NIT.

2)I say we beat one of OSU, Purdue, or Iowa. We always have one big upset at home, even the worst FHJ teams beat top 20 teams.

3)By the end of the season, do you think we get better as the kids mature? Well the last 5 games we play had a combined 28-42 conference record. And that INCLUDES Michigan State. I think we will have a huge huge run at the end of the season, I have been saying that for months.

Now because we played RU Newark in the beginning I actually think we will need 2 B1G tournament wins to get to the NIT. I really hope we get an easy road.

Wake we can't beat at home? This team did beat a Vandy team last year that won what 21 games?

Not ready to predict game-by-game yet but we need to split in Vegas and beat at least one of St. John's or Wake. Can't see a win at GW.
Beating Seton Hall is possible and would nice but not expecting it. Other big thing is not give away a home game against a low major. For once, let's win all of those.

Wake we can't beat at home? This team did beat a Vandy team last year that won what 21 games?

In my opinion that win set us back. In that game we made ZERO substitutions in the 2nd half with a scheduled game the next night. Jack and Mack played all 40. Daniels got hurt this game.

We won this battle and lost the war.

i agree it counts as a win. It's just that you can't take much from it. RU-Newark is glorified high school ball.

N doubt.I saw a couple rutgers newark players in the summer league.Nothing too crazy. This team is young but we have a willing point guard in Sanders it seems. That's huge. Pure scoring points are overrated IMO.

I'll go with 7-24. talent is severely lacking on our basketball team in a tough conference. I'm sure we'll get dumped by a few of the minor league teams we play too like Monmouth... It happens every year. I think we go with 0 wins in big ten play.
