MSU 56 - RU 7. Rettig throws a TD pass in garbage time but no one notices since everyone had already left.

Will not predict a win. If I did I would just be doing so to be a homer. Lets be honest, we are dogs in this game for a reason.

THAT BEING SAID .......

I absolutely do NOT believe MSU is the # 4 team in the nation. Actually not even close. Again, lets be honest--they are #4 because they finished extremely strong LAST YEAR. Remember in 2007 when we were ranked #10 ? Yeah well I do. And we damn well didn't deserve that either.

This is not a national championship caliber team we are playing.

And with that being said again, we'll probably get shellacked. But g*d****t I'm walking to into that stadium with some fracking optimism! Of course we must eliminate the self destructing penalties, play at least mediocre defense, and have the ability to throw the ball more than 8 yards past the LOS. But I don't think of any of those things are pie in the sky either.

People are beginning to call them frauds. They will be out to prove them wrong on prime time. Awesome.

...thins out early 3rd quarter:
Yup. The classic, "Watch the other team score to seal it, look up at the crowd, watch the lines start to form at the exit tunnels." A gut wrenching sight every time.

MSU will expose the amateur coaching staff we have.

MSU 45-10; RU will kick a FG with 1:30 to go in the game.

I would remind you that we are 1-0 against them in our stadium,3-3 everywhere lifetime.Of course,Princeton leads us bigtime as well.We need only for Laviano to become Scott Erney.

.

MSU has pretty much been playing great early, getting nice leads, then folding the tent and getting a tad complacent in the 2nd half, hence, my comments regarding them playing a "entire game" this time around. Could get ugly IF we don't take advantage of JG, force some freakin' TO's, and they don't get complacent.

MSU 0 17 7 7 - 31
RU 3 0 3 7 - 13

Great atmosphere for first 20 minutes of the game, then realty and coaching set in.

I can't find a way to predict a win for us but I am going to go with us showing up and giving them a good game of it.

Saturday will be the first home game I miss since 2003 and part of me expects RU to pull it off in my absence. However, an angry MSU coupled with a scuffling RU will likely not be pretty.

I was going to predict 31-13, but someone already did...so I'll go with

MSU 34 RU 13

F it, after looking at their injuries, they will have lots of first timers playing in a loud and hostile building

Rutgers 24
MSU 23

Reaaallly wish we had carroo this game. Need to give the ball to grant in space. I would even throw some screens to Goodwin and put him in the slot

If this game can't sell out then that tells you all you need to know about our fanbase. And I'm not even pointing fingers, it would just show me that the average fan has already called it quits for this year after all that's happened. Which is ultimately a shame because it wasn't long ago we dreamt of Saturdays like this. #4 team in all the land coming to P-way for a night game, blackout. In a vacuum that would sound like just a super awesome time. The reality however is that a lot of people have quit on the program after one of our only aces in the hole (clean program, academic integrity) comes up with some serious stain on it. After watching MSU struggle with Purdue this weekend it only reaffirmed to me that they will NOT repeat that same performance against us. Good teams can look like shit, but never when they play RU. That would just be too fair for us to catch a break once and awhile. D'antonio and Sparty will probably come out on a mission...

The Chicago media machine continuously hypes this over-rated conference. They are still bitter over Penn State joining the conference in 1994 and mostly doing well in football over that time.

I think RU Gives a game here coming off a bye week. A close game. Maybe Pandemonium II. They will take us lightly. Laviano breaks out like Nova did vs. Arkansas.

RU 33
MSU 23

See you on the field! I'll be wearing the black shirt!

The crowd and timely sacks by our DL (including the re-breaking out of the Kemoko Dragon) propel us to arguably the biggest upset in program history

Rutgers - 24
Sparty - 20

Very solid post and people should read it.

I have the same feelings as yourself sir. I remember going to the Mich State game back 2005 and beating Mich State. We had so much hope back them. We packed the place in '03 against the machines (THE U) and took it them for 3qrts. People just had hope under GS (Even when he stumbled and brought in that whacky snap offense and ruined Savage). Not like today; awaiting the clubbing.

Babbs09 - the arrests/and muscling a professor didn't cause the lack of enthusiasm. It put the nail in the coffin - Flood gives us no hope. And that started after getting blasted in the AAC.
