THE OFFICIAL RUTGERS-MINNESOTA PREDICTION THREAD

Very bad matchup for the first road game of the season.

Minnesota 75 Rutgers 60

This will be a wake up call and good lesson for the young guns.

I think people are overrating Minnesota (it's not like we are playing Iowa:smiley:) and some are actually underrating Rutgers. I disagree with Mister Magoo that we played over our heads against FSU.

If i am a Minnesota fan this will give me a lot of insight on the hunger of the team. Will they look at their rankings and assume things will be easy because we have "RUTGERS" on our uniform.

10 minute mark
Rutgers 52
Minnesota 52

5 minute mark
Minnesota 61
Rutgers 60

Final
Minnesota 74
Rutgers 64

Bonus predictions
Corey Sanders outplays and has better stats than Nate Mason
Souf plays 8 minutes and has a non negative PLUS MINUS
Baker does OK, not great and not bad
Mike Williams plays like Mike Williams, is a spark and goes for 14
Eugene comes back to earth
Duocore 10 pt 8 reb and there are 4 separate threads about him

Jordan Murphy is excellent, and will likely have a field day in the paint. We're going to need to shoot extremely well to win this - not getting my hopes up.

I think we come back to earth on the road against a good team on Sunday night.

I see this a lot like the FSU game, except Minny is at home. Hoping we keep it under 10. Predicting 76-67 MN.

PS: to win we will need Issa, Mike and Geo to hit 3s, assuming DeDhawn, Corey and Eugene have good games as well. May be too much to ask, but defense and rebounding should keep us close for a while.

I just hope we can keep this close enough. I know Pikiell will have them playing hard, but there is a disparity in talent here.

No idea of the score but we will have issues defending them. They are real; along with MSU and Purdue. What I hope is that our fans understand that this is not the finished product and it's still a few years out. What you can expect is a Rutgers team that will follow a very good game plan to try an maximize every ounce of talent we do have. Pay attention to how Pikiell changes defenses game to game and how we hopefully bounce back if we have a small string of losses. We will continue to be a thorn in every teams side because we will never give up; play aggressive defense and win some of the games.

Minny is tall, fairly quick and 5 deep with solid guys......but they did just lose to Miami
I think they are a tad over rated overall

I think we stay with them at times...some decent D...nip close a few times but they stay ahead
we earn some respect in the process

Miami is pretty good though as well. If we can play well, it would be awesome

Watching Purdue now. Haven’t seen a lot of them but damn they’re good. Haas is playing at a high level and they are fast as hell on both sides of the ball.

Mathias is 6 for 6 from beyond the arc, with 4 minutes left in the first half! Purdue up 38-24.

Carson Edwards is a sick guard as well.

Purdue pulls it out by scoring 80 points with zero points from their bench. That’s hard to do.
I give Maryland credit for sticking with them. Looked like a 20 point plus win the way things were going in the first half but Maryland is pretty good as well. Doesn’t seem like the Big 10 is a super strong league but it’s still very talented. Good coaches all the way down the list. A few more years of upgraded talent and we will get there.

I'm going all rutgersal on your assess...Rutgers will win!

R U battles them tough but takes a hard fought loss 77-73. Baby steps to NIT this year and NCAA’s next year.

First game on the road in a tough place vs a terrific opponent...not a good matchup... we lose by about 25 points....80-55 or thereabouts

I think they are a good team. Top in the big like most of us would agree on. They do not have many weaknesses. They are good at holding onto the ball, and not fouling. It's hard to beat teams that can score, and do those things.

They do have one thing Rutgers can try to attack, and still will probably not have much success at- depth. Minnosota has about 6 players, and they are all very good. Rutgers should look to play 8 tonight, and try to push the pace more.

It will be a great challenge for Omoyuri and Freeman tonight. I think Omoyuri can play against Murphy better.
