Relying on freshmen (regardless of how good they are) playing Princeton for the first time and our inability to guard the 3 pt line is worrisome.
they shoot a ton of 3s as their main offense but dont worry they will backdoor us too but no its not the same Princeton from the 80s and 90s. More octane but they are not quite as disciplined as those old teamsHave not followed Princeton at all
If they still run a methodical offense looking for backdoor cuts, they will get way too many easy points
That could be the difference
Pre-season some NBA scouts thought Lee and Pierce might be NBA prospects.they shoot a ton of 3s as their main offense but dont worry they will backdoor us too but no its not the same Princeton from the 80s and 90s. More octane but they are not quite as disciplined as those old teams
what scares me is RU leaves alot of shots open. It seem as if every time we play Princeton they are hot from 3. Can we have one night where they are off. Maybe the cavernous arena will help throw them off.Pre-season some NBA scouts thought Lee and Pierce might be NBA prospects.
Both are having decent to good seasons, and Princeton is 8-4, but despite scoring 70 or more points 8 times, and 80 or more points 4 times and 90 or more points 2 times, Princeton's overall resume is not quite as impressive as it has been in some years. They are 1-3 when scoring 70 points or fewer.
Won close games vs a poor Iona (3-8, +300 NET), a poor Duquesne, a decent Northeastern (8-4, 149 NET) and Monmouth ... won relatively easily (but not by huge margins) vs Merrimack, and a nice win vs St. Joes (probably their best win - 7-4, a 114 NET). Lost to a very good Furman (8-1, top 100 in NET), a decent Texas St (around the same territory as Kennesaw St and Wright St), an okay Wright St (5-6, 160 NET - comparable to Kennesaw St, slightly lower NET) and a pretty good Loyola-Chicago (8-1, top 110 NET). In other words, they have lost to every team with a distinctly better NET than them, except maybe ST. Joes (slightly better NET), played close games with teams around their NET, or even much worse. Draw from that what you will: Scores are not transitive.
Princeton always scares me, thought, and they shoot a TON of 3's (like 48% of their total FG tries)at a high make percentage (38%) ... a team like that could get hot from 3 and give anyone a problem.
Quite a coincidence you wrote this. One of the main reasons I'm confident RU will win Saturday: Allocco is no longer a Tiger.Rutgers 68 Princeton 65
Princeton has the better half court offense but Rutgers has the two most talented players. This could be similar to Notre Dame game but with less scoring by both teams.
Hoping for some Zach Martini 3's during the game and no need for a buzzer beater my heart can't take those games anymoreI expect a close game.
I think outcome of game will be determined whether we can defend Pierce and Lee well and minimize their 3 point shooting and typical Princeton back door plays
Our defensive issues get me concerned and are heightened given Princeton’s unorthodox offense
Hoping for a Zach Martini winning shot at the buzzer ! 😂
I am changing my prediction.Unfortunately, I think it's bombs away for Princeton.
