As frustrating as it was to watch the Offensive game plan and QB, that can't stretch the field and allows opposing defenses to dictate the play on the field, last night was not the time to throw Rettig into the fire. He's had minimal practice reps, our field position was poor most of the night, and the hostile crowd was in a feeding frenzy.
Today is the Right Time. Build the Kansas game plan around his talents. Give him most of the practice reps. Have him start the game, 0-0. Even if Rettig struggles for a while (and he will make mistakes), he's got a big upside to develop for next year.
