For the past few months, I have allowed a certain amount of negativity and bickering because....well, there wasn't much to be excited about during the season. We deleted enough things to prompt some people (who were REALLY unhappy with the program/coaches) to claim we were tyrannical, but more often than not, we let the conversation flow. I would guess that the average user felt that we let too much go.
Now that we have a new coach in place, we are going to be more strict about upholding the rules. There are two ones that I hope the moderator team is particularly strong with:
1) No attacking other posters.
2) No repetitive negative posting.
I am not asking that everything be sunshine and rainbows all the time. However, this is not the vent board. That isn't the intention. In fact, it is supposed to be a safe haven from the outside world where people slam Rutgers at every opportunity. With a new athletic director and football coach, my hope is that we can all find the positives to carry us through until the season. When there is a bump in the road, I hope that we can discuss things in a civil manner, remembering that we are all playing for the same team.
There is a way to share disappointment or frustration, and there is a way NOT to share those feelings. I have shared my disappointment on various message boards through the years and have never once had someone call me out as being too negative, or cluttering up the board. I know it can be done, as I have done it over and over again, on many different team boards. I have also seen it occur here. All it takes is taking a few extra moments to shape your post in a way that won't be viewed as inflammatory. Another tip is to make your point in one place and refrain from #2 above (negative repetitive posting).
I am looking forward to a great offseason! Thank you all for being part oft his community!
