I don't understand why many people are saying that we don't have the players to run the spread. It's not about the players it's about the coaching and the new oc we just brought in knows his stuff and will be able to teach our guys the right way to do it. Yeah it didnt work when we ran it back in 2009-2010 but do i need to remind everyone who was co offensive coordinator back then?? His name rhymes with "Dud"

"The Spread" isn't one offense anymore. There are variations that call for certain skills. Think of the "No Huddle". Some versions are uptempo and meant to grind opponents down. Some versions go slow (Army under Ellerson) and are meant to eat up the clock. Same name (NH) but almost polar opposites. RU once ran the "look-at-me" thing and did it worse than anyone.

LOL over the past few weeks it has been out of control... From Ash coaching the fiesta bowl to this crap about hiring a 28 year old OC its unreal... If were ever fortunate enough to win a conference championship we will still have people complain about something hahaha

Schiano specifically said he tried to run a version of the spread from 09-10 i put emphasis on tried haha

No we actually did... look it up schiano made a comment on it about how he went away from pro-style and got caught up in the spread but it didnt work the way he wanted it to.

No doubt. They would complain that we only got a Rose Bowl invite and not a playoff one.

It's about commitment to what ever version you run. There are techniques that must be learned and mastered. Like most offenses there are also timing patterns. Schiano was running a half ass version out of desperation and it failed. No real commitment, no real success.

Thats exactly the point i'm making we had no one on the staff that had any experience running any kind of spread that year. Ash is bringing in guys on the offensive side of the ball who all have experience in the offense and i believe it will be light-years ahead of what we saw the last time.
