The unusual connection that bonded 2 Rutgers QBs aged a decade apart and a former AD

I'm sorry but the whole Hayden Rettig thing puzzled me. I can sort of understand not playing him because he doesn't fit the Spread option offense. However, I feel like he never got a shot for whatever reason. Even this year, there's no way he was worse than Laviono. Even if he was, there's no way he's worse than Zack Allen, who's somehow worse than Laviono. I wish him the best and I feel that he handled the situation with class. I know it happens at a lot of schools but it always seems like when we get studs at Rutgers more times than not they don't work out (Savage, Huggins, Schuler, Abreu, Hutchinson, Robinson, Cook).

When Rettig had that great first half to start the season when Nova was suspended for a half, I thought Flood missed an opportunity to let Rettig finish that game and show Nova that any slip-up could mean losing the starting job. And the rest of that season seemed like Flood did not want to take a chance on letting Rettig relieve Nova and see that Rettig might be better and that he was wrong to keep Nova as "untouchable".

Think you mean Laviano, not Nova.

Nova was good. Basically the same player as Teel. Lavino was terrible. Rettig is a pro -style QB. Flood should've been fired for not giving him a shot.

I think that had Fridge been the OC one more year, Rettig would have been the starter. Losing Fridge hurt us in many ways IMHO.
No, he would not have been the starter.
