This is just the start. Hugh Pinkney is the preseason Big Ten Freshman of the Year 🏆

This kid has a classic, great left handed swing.
I’d post it if i could find the video but I can’t.
Guaranteed impact as a freshman imo

Interesting to get a left hand hitter in the lineup at the catcher position.

I guess it’s a good problem to have, but among him, last years freshman who seems very good, the transfer from Quinnipiac and Andy Axelson who really improved his hitting, how is everyone going to fit in? Will the coaching staff try to identify one primary to have consistency? Will certain starters be matched with certain pictures like Steve, Carlton and Tim mcCarver? I guess some of them can play other positions and DH as well.

Good problem to have, I’m really beating a dead horse here again, but with the bats we have coming back, regardless of how coach uses them….we will lose or win the vast majority of our games based on pitching and defense.
Not giving away outs and runs is the key.
You can’t give up a crooked number late in the game and expect our hitters to make up for poor pitching and defense against the opponents closers.

I am not sure if we will ever see as good a fielding team as last year again.

It’ll be excellent if our shortstop can play defense.
If you told me now he’d play lights out D and hit 180 I’d take it
