So I am reading the article by Josh Newman from the Asbury Park Press recapping the day at the Ranney-Gill St. Bernard's at Kean(which I went to) yesterday and I get to the part about how this Wednesday's game at Brookdale between Ranney and Roselle Catholic tickets are priced.

I do not know anything about the Colts Neck "I'm Possible Training" group that is putting on the game, BUT UNLESS it is a tremendous charity that the money is going to, the ticket prices are ridiculous and in my opinion is what is wrong with the world.

Here is the quote from Newman's article about the prices:

"Tickets for this thing, billed as the Jersey Shore Challenge and being put on by Colts Neck-based I'm Possible Training, are steep at $8 for students, $15 for adults, $35 for VIP seats, and, wait for it, $100 for courtside seating. There is also a Jackson Liberty-Manasquan game as the under card for that pricing."

I can see $15 for adults even though that is pricey for a high school game, but charging $8 for students is really bad. Making VIP seats $35 and courtside seats at $100 is a DISGRACE.

Of course I will be at our Rutgers game, but when reading the prices being charged for that high school game, you can hardly wonder why there are so many problems with player's handlers and agents having their hands out and getting paid by sneaker companies and schools to get their best players.........

Maybe a case of supply and demand? How much do students spend on a latte now or one of those liquid candy bars at Starbucks?
What the hell ever happened to those bleacher seats for 50cents at Yankee Stadium????

Yeah, no offense, but of all things that could be the penultimate wrong in the world, I don't see this as a contender. Maybe I'm missing something...

It's a fundraiser. People should read articles before the call others out. It's actually a nice way to raise money for a good cause (ALS research and cancer).

Not to be the grammar police but “penultimate” means second to last. No offense :)

Ha, thanks, I didn't know the formal definition. That's a lot different than incorrect "street version" of the word that I was using. I hate getting words wrong like that, so thanks for the education.

In the urban dictionary it describes me as "those who don't know any better." Ouch!

Charging students is wrong. Just limit the amount of student seats. No issue with the rest. If you are a college recruiting any Ranney or RC underclassmen you sit courtside.

Kind of expensive but it wouldn't be at the top of my list for what's wrong with the world.

OK, maybe I was exaggerating a bit about the overall message, but on the site it says a "portion" will be given to the 2 charities. A portion to me does not mean the majority is for charity. Unless I read that almost all monies taken in goes to the charities, I'll stand by my thoughts even though almost everyone disagrees.

Of course everything in life is supply and demand, but the same people on here will complain when Rutgers raises season ticket prices again.

FWIW, I agree w/you. Totally shady to say portion of proceeds go to charity and not disclose amount. To create a VIP/Courtside pricing model to watch h.s. athletes play is also ludicrous. I can’t imagine anyone pays that. I’m sure it’s all for show/comps. Similar to how colleges say tuition is $65,000/ yr then give everyone scholarship or financial aid of $20,000. 1st world problems that exist before the next bubble, I guess.

For the 1st time ever one of the stars in an event like this is going to play here next year. .Get used to paying to watch this kid perform. Finally money well spent for Ru fan.

Thank you. Not a world problem as I mentioned, but funny how the "scandal" received so much noise on the news and ESPN last year, and now there is a small paragraph about the assistant coaches when they are found guilty in court and probably going to jail, while the head coaches skate.

Which player is that? Gill St. Bernard's is not playing. I had no problem with Kean charging 10 bucks a ticket and most of the money went to 2 charities(cancer and Eric LeGrand charity)

I am glad you took it the way I intended. It is certainly not intuitive that the word means second to last.
