I am a PSU fan but I have known Rutgers Asst Coach Steve Mytych since he was in 5th grade or so. Well his daughter, who is a pretty good wrestler in her own right I hear was in a terrible accident. Here is a snippet from a FB post her mom made.

Thank you everyone that reached out, we appreciate you all and for those that don’t know, Mercedes was in a terrible accident and is currently at CHOP hospital in the ICU..Mercedes is going to be ok… she is in the best hands here and I couldn’t be more thankful for the staff taking care of her!!! Mercedes does have a long road to recovery but she’s one tough cookie and we couldn’t be more proud and blessed to be her parents!! She has a lot of trauma to her head, face and body.. and There are a few different types of surgeons that will be working together and hopefully operating at the same time tomorrow to try and get everything done in one shot. She is in a lot of pain and unfortunately isn’t allowed to have any visitors. We just ask to keep her in your thoughts and prayers and we will try to keep you all updated! ❤️❤️🙏🏽🙏🏽

I met Mercedes this summer and Wow what an amazing young girl with so much energy and buzz ( real funny also)...So sad when I heard of the accident and prayers are with her for a speedy recovery....She has a Great Family, The Wrestling community and Rutgers University Wrestling with her back!
Let's Go Mercedes!

Ugh, that’s absolutely terrible news. Children shouldn’t have to deal with such trauma and suffering. Hopefully Mercedes has a full and speedy recovery. We are all pulling for her.

so sad

any updates on how she is doing?
They had the surgery, if I understand correctly multiple surgeons did multiple surgeries at once, instead of doing them individually over several days. No real update other than the family is very satisfied with the doctors plans and how they are including them in team decisions and giving them full information.

She is in it for the long haul but she is very tough and has a great support foundation.

Thank you

Hoping this all works out.
