Three Pinstripe Observations

I think you're forgetting West Virginia.
And we did beat Virginia Tech in the Big East.
They had our number but we had W’s against WVU in ‘92 and ‘94 and 4 overall VS a big goose egg with the U.

Next man up dude.
And THEY were “beneficiaries” of some serious missed calls especially on that last TD drive.
That is spot on! Im just glad UM wasn't fully stocked. We had our hands full as it was.

Was there an explanation for picked up flag on the tackle of our D lineman trying to sack the QB ? That was flagrant

I will add a 5th observation live from the stadium - Everything else was pretty well done at the Pin Stripe but the scoreboard was wrong more than it was right. They ought to be embarrassed. Had Miami winning 3-0 for a while. My kids kept screaming the score was wrong. Also had the downs and yards to gain incorrect on multiple occasions.

yea, RU had some players missing as well.
Some might have helped the starters get a rest , without missing a beat for a short time before getting back in the field.
Aaron Young, RB (transfer portal)
Max Patterson, WR (transfer portal)
Carnell Davis, WR (transfer portal)
Rashad Rochelle, WR (transfer portal)
Bryce Kissi, WR (transfer portal)
Mike Ciaffoni, iOL (transfer portal)
Kamar Missouri, DL (transfer portal)
Khayri Banton, CB (transfer portal)
Todd Bowles Jr., S (transfer portal)

not forgetting Simon, but the odds of his playing ,to give Gavin some rest ,weren't good , even if available.

Yes, we had some players out as well. UM had 3 starters on offense & 3 starters on Defense out.
The lineup was in our favor & I think it helped tip the scales in our direction for the W.

You play the game with whose available & how much depth you have to offset players being out is on coaches & recruiting. So being ready and pulling out the W - credit goes to GS & staff.

Not to mention due to injury: TE1 Langan, LB1 Powell, RT1 Needham. And heck while we're at it, coming into the season WR1 Long. Brantley prob. would've been a starting WR had he been deemed eligible this season. AND... CB1 Melton sitting out due to the NFL draft. So two can play that game. Evens it out a bit more.

That was seriously one of the more poorly-officiated games I have seen. Miami's offensive tackles were literally tackling out d-ends right in front of the refs with absolutely no calls. On one of the goal line plays Miami also went offsides in obvious fashion (DT fired across the ball like almost a second before the ball was snapped) and the uncalled block in the back on one of Miami's pass was almost laughable.

Every single one of their scoring drives had absolutely insane calls. The baloney PI twice at least on the last one. The failure on the obvious holding on the first of the second half. A more evenly officiated game we would have won in a total blowout.

The 25 second play clock for the QB wasn’t working for a while either.

It was a PAC 12 Referee Crew.
My brother lives in the Seattle Suburbs and he always mentions the horrible PAC 12 football officiating.

On the second to last Miami offensive series when they threw the pass interference flag that put them inside the 10 I originally thought they actually called the obvious hold on the RT...when the ref called defensive pass interference Schiano looked stunned and I actually saw him on the concourse screen say to the ref "what about the holding?!?"

They don’t look like they missed too many per diem meals either.

It’s time to get WVU on the schedule.
Takes two to tango. And the Mountaineers dance card is full.

The Big 12, like the Big 10, plays a nine game conference schedule. Here is their P5 OOC for the next nine years.

2024-2025 - Home and home vs. Pitt. They also play Penn State next year. 11 P4's. Yuck!

2026-2027 - Home and home vs. Alabama. Yuck again!

2028 Neutral site (Charlotte) vs. Tennessee.

2029-2032 - Two and two vs. Pitt. Would not be surprised if that gets extended.

So... I think it's safe to say that WVU ain't scheduling us anytime soon. No matter how good an idea we may think it to be. In fact, if you were to ask anyone associated with WVU about scheduling RU, I am certain their response would be "Why?".

Max Melton was the only player of any real significance that didn't suit up. The rest weren't going to make a notable difference.

Interesting Pinstripe Bowl history:

ACC record in 9 appearances: 1 - 8
Big10 record in 9 appearances 8 - 1

Only BIG loss was Indiana coming up short in OT against Duke (note - Rutgers lost to ND in 2013 before either were affiliated with their current conferences).

To me this says/confirms BIG is tougher/deeper than acc (obviously) 😉

1) Monangai would rush for 1,500 + yards in the ACC
2) Schiano > Mario
3) The Bad Boys Mower CEO could be a voice double for Peter Boyle

PS - crowd sounded good on TV and the old Big East demons are now dead!
West Virginia says hello.

Yes … once again WVU had our number in the Big East however we beat them twice in the BE and 4 times overall. We had a big goose egg 0-11 against Miami. This was a cathartic win for those of us that lived through the BE. We have now beaten them all at some point. I’ll be happy with a future W against your boogeyman WVU.

PS - don’t sit on any smoldering couches

Sounds like a lot of excuses....

Live, the officiating seemed terrible, but haven't had a chance to watch the tape to see. The friggin' stadium only did occasional replays and often not of big plays, which was annoying.

The original 3 who left the Big East for dead - BC, Miami, and Va Tech - who started all this mess and could have left us like Temple or worse UConn is .. we beat in the last 2 seasons. Schiano has gotten the last laugh. And, we passed them all by on top of that being in the Big Ten while their conference publicly falls apart.

Really? Powell??? Johnny Langan????
Powell was hurt, same as Langan. What does that have to do with losing players to transfer or opt outs that we wanted to keep? Not to mention, Langan while a great kid, isn't really all that great a player. Fact is, we were one of the least impacted teams from a players missing the game perspective in this year's bowl season.

Since you were comparing missing players the impact should consider all Starting Players that were on the 1 deep from the 1st game. Fact is we were missing 3 starters due to injury : Needham, Langan, Powell. And probably a 4th when you consider WR Chris Long missed the season. I think was missing an injured OL and their 2nd string QB.
