Basketball TKR TV: Stringer, Guirantes talk NCAA Tourney disparities, BYU

If you’ve seen pictures and videos of the differences between the weight room, food, etc. between what the men and women’s teams get, that was talked about here.

Both also discussed BYU and having the tournament in one area as well.

I liked the responses by both Coach Stringer and Arella Guirantes. Coach was thankful to get equal support from RU and gave credit to the AD (Pat and Sarah). She acknowledged the disparity. (Of course, she remembers when the differences were even more stark and daily.) Arella said she was disappointed but it was not going to be a distraction. They are focused on the game ahead.

GO RU!

I saw the video of the big "men's" weight room that no one was using and got to thinking: Would anyone care if the women went in there and worked out ? Would they be told to leave because they're not men ? Somehow, I doubt that would occur. In fact. I'd bet my life's savings it wouldn't. Also did not see any signage indicating that room was for men only. Why would this weight room, which was the size of a typical Planet Fitness, not be for everyone just like any public gym? Think you're all being taken for suckers with this silly narrative that the women can't work out just like the men.

They are on opposite ends of the country. Men are in Indiana and women are in Texas
