Top 10 red-flag players heading into NFL scouting combine

Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky

I could get lost imagining a defensive line with Noah Spence on one edge and Joey Bosa on the other...

i hate how his image is tarnished from one thing, in which was dropped/proven to be a lie. He was an outstanding person on / off the field during his RU tenure. Kind of a shame

A solid set of interviews should largely minimize the issue.

you'll never hear of it again after he gets drafted.

I missed the part where it was "proven to be a lie".

Video evidence, no one backing the girls story and it being recanted/not pursued adamantly. I guess not proven a lie, but proven inconclusive. Should of worded that better.

I've read somewhere that it was addressed in interviews at the Senior Bowl. I believe the league and teams have security people that'll look into this. It'll be based on what if anything they find as much as the interviews.

I think the fact that witnesses were willing to testify under oath that he didn't do anything wrong and nobody was willing to testify under oath that he did do something wrong is proof enough that the charges and his arrest were bullshit.

Or is being accused and then having charges dropped due to lack of any credible evidence whatsoever not good enough? Far as I'm concerned, he's as innocent of what he was charged with as you would be of anything someone might make up about you which nobody could prove.

If just being accused is now all it takes to condemn a person to "not exactly proven innocent" status, then I guess we're all "not exactly proven innocent"; just like him.

Anyone remember when Dan Marino fell in the draft due to 'red flags' about his smoking pot ? lol. The brilliant Jets took Ken O' Brien ahead of Dan Marino, ugh, lol. KC Chiefs took Todd Blackledge , Pats took Tony Eason ahead of Marino. Of course Elway and Jim Kelly not too shabby in same draft.

Actually the rumor was coke.

The questions about Connor Cook sound exactly like the questions surrounding the Wisconsin QB character in "Draft Day".

Exactly what I was thinking. [roll]

Did Cook have a birthday party & no teammates show up?

Seriously, it does say something when the guy who is supposed to lead your offense isn't a captain, at least as a senior.

Yet Corey Clement started a fight in Wisconsin, lied about it, and got off with a slap on the wrist and missed one game. If his situation escalated or if he threw a good punch, would he would have been cited for inciting a riot and conspiracy to incite a riot like a few of our former players? And there was video showing him starting the fight.

Clement, 23, suffered a cut on his hand in the fight, which he also played a large role in verbally instigating, police said. In the police investigative report, obtained Wednesday by the State Journal, Madison Police Det. Joel Peterson also said the UW Athletic Department issued a misleading statement about the event shortly after it happened. He made this statement when one of the two men cited along with Clement, identified as Botmonyroth Men, 21, asked why Clement had been portrayed as acting in self-defense in media accounts published a few days after the incident.
Because Clement was not arrested or charged with a crime, he is not required to be suspended based on the university’s student-athlete discipline policy.

An escalating series of hostile exchanges between Clement and the group of seven to eight men included what police described as Clement’s repeated use of “derogatory and sexually explicit language” toward the girlfriend of one of the two other men cited.

Bad judgment getting involved in suspected fight with women will bring suspicion and character issue questions.

Ok- so I would take Marino in a nano second but remove Elway from the list and 0 SB wins = 0 SB wins

Who cares? He'll still kill it with whomever drafts him and the money is now made on the 2nd NFL contract now.

The fight with women was not suspected. That fight was factual. It was caught on video. It was entirely between women. Carroo didn't fight with anybody.

Secondly, if your mom and girlfriend were in a mob of fighting women, would you not attempt to pull one or both of them away to safety? I too thought it was bad judgement for him to have left the Hale center until the facts started to come out, along with the two videos. Then it became clear he did exactly what he should've done. What I would've done. What any good boyfriend or son that wasn't entirely self-interested would've done.

The NFL folks did indeed have some questions about what happened. And he answered them. The NFL folks seemed satisfied. The judge was satisfied. I'm satisfied.

What's your reason for not being satisfied?

Loan him a sheep and/or some blow, and maybe that will satisfy?

I can only provide hookers and blow. Can't loan him sheep. That would be sexual slavery which would be immoral.

Although now that I think about it for a second, all three things are quite addictive. So it would be a momentary satisfaction only. Not good.

I'm afraid the only thing for it is that he'll just have to get with the program and get past his issues with Carroo. There's no two ways about it.

That's probably because articles like this are based on sports movies the author has seen, rather than facts.

If you have two players ranked the same on your next pick and one has never been suspended and the other was suspended twice during his senior season, who do you take?

Solid job by Yahoo for writing the actual true story. I've read on other sites that Caroo was convicted of slamming a girl into concrete. So appreciate when a website gets the facts correct.

I, hate, to say it but, an NFL GM will probably select the more talented player!!

Reading comprehension is not your gift. Two "equal players". There are lots of players of similar talent levels. The off the field question marks could be the tiebreaker when deciding who to draft.

Cook seems like I dick. When they won the B1G title, some legendary former player (forget who, I think one of Nebraska's Heisman winners) gave him the trophy and Cook didn't even have the decency to shake the dudes hand. Seems like a "me" guy.

You would like that did..k if he took the team to a title game. Other than than why even comment not the home team concern. Worry about the home team and stop trying to bring down the other league teams personnel. Can only hope we get that quality.
