Pardon me while I pop some popcorn and melt a little garlic butter to sprinkle on it. This should be fun.

We’d be lucky to have Flood as OL coach again

Head Coach not so much
As long as someone else could recruit because Flood certainly wasn't able to .

Lou Holtz called RU's OL "the best in the nation" the night of Louisville game Two guys were drafted off 2006 line (one won a Super Bowl with Steelers) and then Anthony Davis came on.

Yet by 2010 RU had one of worst OLs in history, as RU claimed the D1 record for "sacks allowed." A disintegration OL greased the skids for Savage transfer. RU's history would have been different with a few quality OL taken in

"It all starts up front." And if you look at the 5 teams that are constant playoff teams over the last few years - OSU, Alabama, Clemson, Oklahoma and even ND - all of their OL coaches are in the top 9. Pretty much says it all

Where to begin? 1st I will start with coach AA, our guy. It is impressive he made the list after one year. 2nd. With NIL, I have to ask, will our old buddy K.Flood get busted for helping players do tax returns, 😆. 3rd serious point. I am schocked Ed Warriner is at FAU. I figured he would stay power 5, or go pro.

The OL had absolutely ZERO to do with Savage transferring, truth be told Savage should have been suspended from the team, based on what went on during the summer after his freshman year.

So when schiano leaves to coach the dolphins in 10 years , aurich will be our new terrible head coach ?

That was because of a change in offense

Running a new offensive system without the personnel to run it properly

I seen on that list a few ex HCs , proving you can be considered very good as an assistant , but not that well thought of as a HC.

Guy is good at coaching OL recruited by other people. He can't recruit them for shit.
Point taken that he is much better OL Coach than HC...No one can argue that and it is very difficult to convince many people that he cannot coach the OL at a high level.
but...
As either OL Coach or HC...the following guys are asking for someone to hold their beers
Lumpkin
K. Johnson
AD
Forst
Bujari
Muller
Nelson
Miller
Denman
Cole
Applefield
J. Jackson

The guys that made up the 06/07 OL’s were a special group. All of them still talk with great respect about Coach Flood as an OL coach.
What happened in 2010 was three fold. It was expected that Forst would carry the torch and that Ruch and Des Stapleton would be much better. But the real problem was that Coach Schiano would sometimes only bring in a couple of OL in a class rather than a necessary 4-5 every year. There was no room for error. And then, we had a new OC that was force fitting his system with the wrong players. Which included Savage who had horrible pocket presence

This. Schiano has learned as this time around he is not taking chances and loading up both lines.

I will always think, Ash used Rutgers recruiting for extended vacation time.

Don't know about this one. He's saying the guy at Wake Forest puts out better OLs than Iowa? I doubt it.

It will be interesting to see if Flood gets another HC job down the road and how he does.

No doubt Kyle Flood is a very good OL coach.
Can’t believe he basically stole “That team from up north line” from OSU. “That team from Pennsylvania”, “TTFP”.
I thought # 9 on the list very interesting.
Marone did a great job with Syracuse.
Now he is on hold at Alabama waiting for his next head coaching shot.Interesting.

Bodes well tha Aurich is already ranked at #49 after only one season. He had to correct a lot of wrongs in a short period of time. I questioned his recruiting chops but that seems to be starting to come around.

I was impressed with what he did in one year. Guys knew their assignment, they just didn’t have the talent to get the job done. Years past that was not the case it was simply blown assignments.

He's a perfect example of a very good assistant coach but had no business as a HC
Short and sweet, nailed it! Ash imo, thought in part, all he had to do was wear the OSU NC ring, and blue chippers would come running to play for him.
