Not trying to start a pissing contest here, but the discussion about Calhoun before the MSU game got me to thinking about your posts concerning Flood taking chances with talented recruits no one else wanted because of their negative exploits.
I believe Schiano was still in charge when Calhoun was recruited. I think we passed on him because of the incident when he quit his HS basketball team in the middle of a game. Apparently he wanted to come here.
Now he is an All-American and, as far as I can tell, not a problem in any way.
As you stated, at least a couple of the players who torpedoed our season by getting into trouble might have been prospects that Coach Flood was able to sign because other teams thought they were too likely too big a gamble.
I have no idea how valid these points are. I did find them interesting though. I am also surprised Schiano passed on Calhoun. He took some talented players with some associated risk, but was able to keep them in line with his "micro-managing" hard-nosed philosophy.
Just looking for your reactions! Lots of speculation in my post.
