It's the B1G app. Funny you should ask. I just subscribed (for a month, for $10) to watch the first couple of games, which are on it. I just found out that I can't watch the games on my LG smart tv because B!G+ doesn't allow "casting".

I didn't subscribe to it to watch stuff on my phone, ipad or mac. Is there anyone here who knows if there is a solution to this problem?

You can download it on an Apple TV

Looks like that might work since I have Apple TV. I guess I have to wait for another live Rutgers event since I did the one month BTN+ subscription just for RU stuff - tomorrow's women's hoops game with Hofstra at 11a will be the test.

Thanks DC!

If you have Apple TV and an iPhone, you can "sling" it from your phone to TV

I was able to watch Rutgers and Fairfield game on my Samsung large screen tv by using the internet application. Worked fine.

Listen on radio for these nothing games . Not worth the hassle to watch what should be a blowout . And if it’s not a blowout , you don’t need to watch

I have the B1G+ app on my iPad which usually casts fine to Apple TV. I bought the 1 month Rutgers package yesterday for $10 and will be unsubscribing on 12/4.

Pretty wild/annoying that it's not available on certain smart tvs. I have the other devices so it's not the end of the world, but gets annoying to be moving around devices from tv to tv for one-offs.

A fairly cheap option for you non-cord cutters is buy a Roku and download the Big+ app on there. It's really not that much of a hassle
How cheap ? You still got to subscribe. Rhet own you . Then they get your info and will show up at your tailgates and throw footballs near you.

You can use Apple Airplay on your iPhone to stream the games from B1G+ to your smart TV. I do this all the time for Olympic sports and OOC hoops games.

I always access it on my Mac and hook the Mac up to my smartTV.

You can’t play it on ur laptop and hDMI out to one of the TV sources. That’s what I do on one of my “not” smart TVs

If the Apple TV solution doesn't work tomorrow, I'll try this. Hard to believe it wouldn't work as it always did with my non-smart TV. I'm new to the smart TV and still figuring things out.

Degas - I tried Airplay for the Wagner game (I think) and it worked until there was a commercial - then it just quit, everytime - didn't make sense to me. I finally got fed up re-connecting and watched the rest of the game on the Mac.

I’ve never had that issue. If that was a football game, you were on the Fox Sports app.

Besides, the basketball games don’t have commercial breaks on BTN+

If you can't cast, that's brand new BS. I've been doing the monthly season for 2-3 years now and always cast (to an LG Smart TV with a Chromecast from my Android phone) no problem. What makes you say you can't @29PAS ? Just curious.

been awhile.. but another workaround might be using a PC and chrome browser and casting teh desktop or whole tab to a targetable TV (A Chromecast Ultra or Chromecast TV dongle would make that any TV you can plug it into, IIRC)

My guess is the app itself doesn't have any innate ability to cast? But there are other ways to mirror your phone, or, as I described in a different post, use a browser to access B1G+ and cast teh whole tab or desktop using Chrome.

Roku, Firestock, Apple TV, Chromecast and just download the B1G+ app. It's really simple

Can stream on computer and plug HDMI directly into TV

Use the internet browser app on a smart TV and log into the B1G+ website through the TV browser

B1G+ app has casting both with Airplay and Chromecast. I use it all the time all year for various RU sports. If the casting symbol isn’t popping up the problem is with your TV or network

Have not watched a basketball game on BTN+ but sure hope the production value is better than lacrosse.

This.

Yes you can cast. You used to not be able to from a mobile device but they upgraded late last year. I get the annual for the school and watched baseball streaming through chrome cast

Thanks for all the replies. I’m watching the womens game after connecting my Mac to an HDMI port with a cable, just the way I did with my dumb tv.

For those who asked, the BTN+ support page says casting is not supported and a rep said the same thing in a chat. Obviously that’s not correct unless what I’m doing is different. I don’t think it is.

Will try airplay next.

It's more simple than a real TV broadcast, but I honestly have enjoyed some of the commentary on the B1G+ games before. Either last year or the year before they were really good IMO and knew the team well

It doesn't allow Google Cast or any casting? You can try a casting app like "allcast" and see if that works as well.

Airplay works. Think I’m set unless it all goes to hell tonight at 7pm!

A Firestick or Roku is an easy option. Cheap and simple to use.

For those who don't know what a firestick or equivalent is....

You just plug this little thumb drive that's the size of about a pack of gum into your TV HDMI port and plug it into the wall. Turn your TV to the HDMI port input and you're good to go

That's basically it. The controller on a firestick is extremely simple with very minimal buttons. You would just go to the applications and click app library and search for B1G+ and download it. Log in once and the app will save your info

In the future after the initial set up, just turn the TV to the correct HDMI input that you plugged the firestick into, and you'll see the B1G app there on the home screen. Click on it and you're all set

It's really simple, but if you're still not sure, you probably find a friend or family member who can help set it up. It really only takes a few minutes
