I admit that any womens news these days sadly gives me an angry pit in my stomach.

Abby Streeter shot 41% on 3's. Made 78 of 187. Guess she'll be spotting up on the 3 point line.

So glad you want to barf at the thought of players that want to represent Rutgers University. This fan base is delusional and I can’t wait for the old farts to be gone when I will be an old fart.

Support Rutgers players. Like wtf

I’m far from an old fart and far from delusional. I’d prefer to have a real coach that players knew would be here coaching them. I’d say 90 pct of the fan base feels the same. The constant influx of one year rentals isn’t exactly great for the program. I feel badly for these young women. They should have the benefit of playing for a hall of fame coach

one year rentals are becoming a major part of the game now.
Might not be the best way to build a team, but good for instant gratification while the HS talent becomes better accustomed to the college game

Most of the old farts , that understand that CVS did what most RU HCs couldn't do, want Stringer back if at 100% and healthy enough to last the full term of her contract.
It's just that no one knows what's going on with her, health wise, and I tend to feel she won't ever be back to the type of health needed to run a program like Rutgers.
So i feel making a change now is in the best interest of the RU WBB program

Note: don't confuse those fans , like me who think change is needed, with the ones that have wanted Stringer gone for many years and I wouldn't be surprised if a few of them felt that way during the golden era of CVS's tenure

Knowing who you're going to play for is something I expect HS recruits and transfers to consider when they chose a program to sign with, but in the case of Abby ( one year rental) and Kia ( 2 years eligibility left) something must have been said to them that made both not worry about who would be the HC or just that playing for Rutgers topped the state of confusion that's surrounding the program right now and made them want to come to RU.

Who is their coach going to be? That would be cool to know…you’d think being basically one month removed from the natty would mean it would be settled already!

Good post. I’ve been a fan since 1985. The program is the signature program of the university. I love what our coaches have done and like you am not anti stringer. I think she could still walk into the homes of young women and sell her vision. But it would be shocking, based on the last few years if she returned to the cviv of old. So let’s get another hall of famer here before the success of the last 40 years becomes a distant memory

Sadly, the transferees are probably going to be an on-going thing. I have thought that, at least for a few years, it will be inflated by the additional Covid year granted players.

We had, at one point, 15 players on roster at Arizona. We have 5 that did not graduate, enter the portal, or move on otherwise. We have 4 outstanding recruits, and the plan is to boost the roster with, yep, 1 year rentals. The coaching staff is high on the fact that they are generally easier to work into the game plan than inexperienced players and are (supposedly) - at least in the case out here - better than the players that left.

FIFY.( because I don't like what you said)
( should been added)
but will admit the signature RU program isn't WBB right now, but could have been considered the one before last season.
RU MBB would be a valid opposing viewpoint to be considered the "1" two years ago as well.
After the disastrous RU WBB season under Eatman, last year, "was" is the right word now.

First, I admit I know nothing of these transfer players. I wish them a world of success.
But are fans excited that we are getting portal transfers from Hartford (18.6 min a game, 3.4 points and 2.6 assists) and UNC Asheville (All Big South Second team). Both are guards. There would be doubts even if these women put up great stats for their former teams as stepping up to the Big Ten sometimes is a step too far.

How many season ticket holders are they going to lose?
How can anyone have any faith that Eatman will turn this around?

No faith at all if CVS not back it’s a whole new regime and at this point that’s what I hope and pray so this basketball team can move ahead and we can return to be a national contender again

Abby's 2020-21 stats were 18.6 mpg
but averaged 30 minutes in the 2021-22 season ( I posted link) starting 28 of the 30 games the Hawks played and was the second leading score of team ( though that was nothing to brag about, just.shown she was improving)
Just about every transfer going , no matter what program transferring to, will bring doubts with them, but could become assets because their play improved .

Abby shown improvement from the 2020-21 stats you looked at , when looking at her 2021-22 stats.
The All Big South transfer shown skill at a lower level, maybe she's show the same type of skill set as a B1G player

As for faith in Eatman leading the program don't think this is much of that .
Season ticket holders probably will be downwards

I guess it depends on what your definition of is is. The program is not living up to its historical greatness right now. But I’d say over the course of athletic history at ru, it’s the flagship program, and it’s probably not close. It’s why It’s frustrating

Yes, but it has been quite a few years since the rosters have been reasonably stable. I have trouble getting as interested as I was at one time when I don’t know any of the players.

With the transfer portal, I’m afraid stability will be the exception rather than the rule. I don’t see Rutgers being any different but the unknown coaching status isn’t going to get us top level transfers…rather more lower level conference players looking to get into a power 5 with playing time. Not a recipe for success from a fan standpoint.

The unusual number of transfers in and out of here started before the portal came into play. RU is way on the high side of the in/out traffic. This is especially true among the upper echelon recruits.

Yes. It is very difficult to follow Rutgers from afar, as there is a constant turnover. But that isn't really unique to Rutgers this day and age.

The same issue has arisen to some degree in the WNBA where some movement is expected, but which has reflected changing times and contracts as well. Back when we followed the Liberty at the start and first 10 years of the league, rosters were largely stable, over 1/2 the team was expected back each year, and that is no longer consistently the case in the "W". It is probably true in all sports.

RU is unique in a lot of ways; but the transferring in/out is not one of them. It's ALL over the country, and it doesn't seem to matter anymore how successful one is at the current school (see Angel Reese and Ashely Owusu transferring from MD).

Today is April 26 !!! Unbelievable !!! Pat, you run the show !!!
Pat runs the show and has given Stringer till the middle of June as when her LOA ends.
Would you make a liar out of him by having him break the LOA deal and become someone that can't be trusted to follow through on what he agreed to

You want to complain ?
Complain about the third extension of the original LOA agreement, but not be pissed at Hobbs for keeping his word.

That said, back to the transfer talk which is what this thread is supposed to be about .
Some RU fans felt the portal wouldn't supply players because of the who is the HC situation at Rutgers .
Good to see that isn't the case, now to see if Kia and Abby prove to be good additions like Brown was last year.

Question
Lashee Petree was a senior last year and not a grad transfer, like the five departed girls/ women .
Does anyone know if she had a Covid year
This returning

She and Destiny Marshall have the extra year to work with. Destiny has entered the portal.

Hopefully, Lasha takes advantage of familiarity with the system and plenty of available playing time on a B1G stage. She can continue to develop her game and would likely be the top weapon offensively.
