Somehow, those three teams have catapulted ahead of us even though we beat two of them and blew the game against the other. Sorry, but our personnel losses are really no different than any other schools. Maryland, in particular, lost virtually everyone and they are still considered better.
This really sucks for poor little Indiana though, as they most certainly had to view our entry into the league as a "get out of last place" ticket. :grimace:

its gonna take a couple of years for them to break the bad habit of pigeonholing us. We are still building a reputation, but trust me a few more years and that will change. We still need to get better every year but the foundation is pretty solid.

"And we get Maryland at home."

"Which doesn't bode well for us. Each team has lost at home and won on the road. I hope we break the cycle this year!"

I do hope so as well but if that cycle holds, let's hope another does as well: so far no one has won two straight games in the Michigan State - Rutgers series, so that would mean it's our turn this year.

The problem is that we were in the Big East which was heavily disrespected. We then basically disappeared with the AAC. Now as a member of the Big 10, we'll get respect eventually. The first season was solid only because we performed above expectations. If we beat PSU we would have gotten some more respect.

This year, people are taking the approach that last year was a "flash in the pan" so to speak. So again they peg us near the bottom thinking we'll revert to rutgers circa 2000. We need a good season this year and you'll see we'll get respect as a SOLID program. If we want top level respect, we need to beat the big boys. Hopefully we can make some serious noise in the next few years.

With new players on the OL and a new QB. Plus a defense that needed a lot of work, that is why everyone is picking us last.

I can't wait to see how it all plays out!

They have us finishing ahead of Indiana.
Hooray! (sarcasm)

Behind PSU, Michigan, & Maryland
Just more people to prove wrong.
Given that we played even with all three last year, and two are now on the road, and all of them have easier schedules than us in conference, its just not a surprise.

Here the thing, we beat PSU, Maryland and Indiana this year with a shot at MSU and Mich.

id say the only games we really have no chance of winning are OSU and MSU. And it sucks that both of those games are in our division!!!!!!!!

I don't have a problem with being ranked behind PSU, who has an easy schedule, returns a very good QB and has us at home, or Michigan who has Harbaugh. But Maryland? The only reason that they finished ahead of us last year was that they had Iowa at home while we had Nebraska at home. Dont understand it at all.

Given the crossover games we are saddled with, I really have no problem with this. Now in the future, when the crossovers get more manageable, I would expect the predictions to improve slightly -- assuming all other things go according to plan, anyway. I'll bitch then, not now.
